Has anyone noticed Google giving link credit and PR value even from "nofollow" links? I swear a bunch of link sources, including WikiPedia and MySpace seem to still pass linkjuice... Is there simply a different handling of inbound links from nofollow's? Just an observation, and looking for proof somewhere of what's really going on with nofollow's. Running an experiment now with new pages with only NOFOLLOW inbound links to check... I would REALLY appreciate saving time if someone has actually done this and documented the results. Google is a lot of bark and no bite if the algo's aren't working yet . Example: Paid Link Reporting to Matt
if you remember matt cutts old post about links showing up in Webmaster tools..he said "Not all links are counted but they are reported in webmaster tools". So if u see a lot of links which are nofollow they are still counted as link but they do not influence your PR.
Isn't the nofollow a "suggestion"? I don't see any reason that Google or another search engine can't look at the links and decide they are relevant... ignore the suggestion... and give some PR anyway. If I was a search engine, I'd look at the "trusted source" status of either the source or the destination, perhaps both, and ignore it at times. Especially when a lot of the software and sites on the Internet now throw in the "nofollow" tag by default, even if it isn't appropriate. For example, since I remove spam comments on my own blogs, I generally remove the "nofollow" tag from the template, though most non-technical people won't be able to do so. Heh, I like it when nobody knows for sure what is happening... it helps keep everyone honest.
Google is currently experiencing problems with NOFOLLOW. So it is giving PR right now. Of course, that will be changed very soon.
High govt secret indeed. Perhaps there is a 2000 page document on nofollow and FBI is investigating the culprits lol
Maybe they should form a committee, that'll render it useless! LOL about this: I understand them reporting links with no credit... but I've seen pages with NO other links get PR from somewhere! Makes me think it's not an absolute thing, maybe there's a qualifier of some sort, IE: "this link is good, so we'll pass PR anyway"
this just in: MySpace now useing redirect links instead of simply nofollows... Hmm, too many people noticing they still pass PR?
Another possibility is that google only passes PR through nofollow links if they detect a reasonable click through pattern with toolbar users.

I don't think nofollow passes anything. I have been keeeping an eye on a new site of mine which had a nofollow link from one of my higher sites. The site was not indexed at all.
Well, I would kinda expect Matt to disagree, since I'm saying NOFOLLOW may not work. You really think he's post in his blog something like "hey, nofollow links still have a little value, so spam away friends!" You know he's the spam guy right?
Actually I have to disagree with you to, I have had a site with nothing but high PR nofollowed links pointing to It for a few months and that site has never gained any PR.
I have a wikipedia link to one of my pages and i reckon it doesn't count since this page only shows in supplemental results
