I Know this has been asked often times, and not many will want to share this knowledge.
So, to all the generous IMer's who are willing to share, what are the correct and effective ways to research a PROFITABLE topic for you to develop an info product on?

I thought a forum should be a place for people to provide constructive feedback and useful discussions. Post like this isn't helpful at all.

 

you're right. posts like that ain't helpful at all. don't take it to heart.

first of all, this may sound cliche, but i would go with what you know and love first. you should start by listing several 'arenas' that you're good at, or have knowledge about.

the reason is that if you go purely for profitability, you will not have the drive to continue maintaining your business.

start with 3-4 things that you like, or have knowledge on. only from there you should start researching profitability.

here's a tip: "How-To's" are in high demand and profitable.

 

Anything that comes to your mind and which sounds profitable.

Do some research about it, if it sells go for it

That is a pretty bold statement.

If someone is just starting out they
will need more than just 2-3 weeks
to reach that level. Especially if they
have an offline job.

You can check competing websites in your niche by entering them in Alexa.com and see the traffic tab. That will let you know how high the site ranks in alexa's subscribers.
