Should a US President be born in the United States? Just want to gauge the opinion out there. We all know Arnie what like to run or US President, but was not born in the U.S. Should it make a difference? I don't think George Washington was born in the US. Your thoughts.
It would be great if Arnie was President, he could put on his combat gear, get dropped off overnight by dinghy on the coast of Iraq complete with a couple of machine guns and a few of grenades and go and kill about 150 terrorists without even running out of ammo. A bit like he did in the film Commando.
The President needs to be born in the United States, otherwise how are they going to know how this country is? It doesn't seem right to have a citizen of another country be President of ours...
he was born in virginia, which is one of the original states. according to the constitution; yes, the next president will have to have been born in the US.
It's bad enough we have foreigners telling us how to vote. Since we have regime change through voting, allowing a foreigner to take the highest office is no different than a foreign country taking over.
Yeah, I think the US president should be required to have been born as a US citizen but not necessarily on US soil. For example, my brother was born in Japan because my father was in US military and mother was with him.
Yes, i believe anyone wanting to rule a country as a president/PM should be born in the country, this prevents to some extent invaders taking control that have their own interests instead of those of the people.
A US President should definitely be born from the united States. Infact every President of the country should be born from that country itself. I am saying all this because , in my opinion, it will help the President itself to serve the country in a more better way.
Hell yes the President should be born on U.S. soil. I'm all for "Land of the Free" and "Give us your tired, your poor..blah, blah", but come on. A foreign born President? NO WAY! I believe every country has a similar stipulation in their Constitution, Articles, Ramblings of a Dictator, or what ever they have.
which is what the constitution says. you have to be born a citizen of the US. So, from an army base in japan seems like you'd be open for the job, if you wanted it.
exactly...technically George Washington was not born a citizen, as the US didn't exist at the time...but when the US did exist, the land that he was born on was considered a part of the US, and therefore he was a citizen.
I thought a couple of the early Presidents were actually born in England can anyone enlighten me on Adams, Monroe, Franklin, etc.
franklin wasn't a president. this is what wikipedia is for. its not hard to use each president was born on this soil, though obviously some were born before they were states, but all were born in the colonies, at least.
Sounds pretty cut and dry to me. Also, even if Schwarzenegger was born in the US I wouldn't want him to be president.
