Hello everyone, I recently opened up my first web designer, programmer and freelancer auction site. It will be geared towards all programmers and cosumers that are looking for web designs, templates and custom work done. It has only been up for about 2 weeks and the site is already getting traffic. I have a really good feeling about this site. Our selling point is that we do not charge listing fees and the site has alot of features for both buyers and sellers. One of the most important of all is that users that signup to the auction site are automatically signed up to the forum, therefore eliminating the hassle of having to signup twice. If you are a web designer, programmer, freelancer or even a consumer looking to buy, sell or trade templates, designs, domains and other web related products- this site is for you! Please take a few seconds to create an account and begin listing your product and post comments & feedback on our forum. Your suggestions, feedback and support with our newly launched site are GREATLY APPRECIATED!! P.S. Almost forgot to mention that if you signup you automatically get $10 to used towards any auction listing upgrades, such as home page inclusion, bold listing, highlight and so on...
* Live clock is a nice idea, small suggestion at that place is you should also show which timezone the clock is showing like EST or IST etc. * Major bug I found is first I got the site http://www.webdesignerauctions.com/ then click to german version, it goes to http://www.webdesignerauctions.com/lang.php?lang=german again click for english version (http://www.webdesignerauctions.com/lang.php?lang=english) it goes in loop for switching the both languages... * Another I didn't like the site about orange color used at (topic in forum things) - this is just suggestion.. not a bug.. I've not seen whole site ... and got some suggestion for you... Anyway nice site for freelances...nice concept thanks
The inside of the content seems cluttered, try using a lighter blue for the "highlights" for your products. The outside interface should be darker than the inside.
I wouldn't have known there was a forum on this site if I hadn't scrolled all the way down. There should be a link somewhere at the top for it. I agree with the comment about the clock; maybe you could allow registered users to set it to their time zone? You did a great job in your intro post selling the site to us - there should be a header on the site doing just that. A "why us" or something similar to explain to visitors why they should register with you vs the competition. Maybe even a promotions tab for any offers like the $10 credit you mentioned. Good luck with this!
Thanks alot everyone! I really appreciate your feedback and comments. This is the only way I can improve my site and the chance of keeping it in business. Thanks I have added a promotional section to the top of the page. This will randomize all of our important site messages and news. Also, I will go ahead and change the orange color on the forum topics block per the feedback given here. I am trying different colors to see how it looks. Thanks.
To start, I absolutely LOVE the menu bars. Very nice and shiny, makes me happy. Nevertheless, you didnt use the same technique on the inner content area for the "forum" and "topic" areas. You may want to try that, if for nothing else but consistently. And I strongly echo what 8everything said about the colors. They are very bold, and distracting. Try to lighten them up a bit, or do a linear gradient left to right. The bold colors all the way from left to write is what's making it distracting, i think. Additionally, you may want to eventually split your "templates" section into areas by application (take a cue from DP's business section and then do it better than DP). If you're looking only for wordpress themes, it's QUITE annoying to have to scroll through phpld templates and such. Great job on the site though. I can tell you put quite a bit of thought and work into it.
Great concept! The initial page seems to throw alot at me at once. Perhaps your could streamlinethe "above the fold" portion of the site to specify a "whats in it for me" message for your visitors. Just my opinion, otherwise great job!
Thanks again for your VALUABLE feedback. I have taken your suggestions and made some changes. Hopefully the appearance is much better now. As far as SEO goes, what does that involve. Because I thought I had already done that to my site just by making most of the links search engine friendly. Am I missing something on this SEO deal?
