I'm entering the celebrity niche with a few domains i purchased. I'm trying to figure out what is best, a blog or a website. The site will be strictly informational with adsense, affiliate links.

do you find one better than the other?

    Thanks folks :D

There's one thing I don't understand about blogs. Many blogs use feeds to post in their blogs, but isn't this duplicated content?

Well, yes. Dupe content will make your site of lesser quality in the search engines eyes.

    Yes.

Duplicate content will trigger a filter.

    Actually, it is.

Do we have much blogs and news sites? Yes.
Do we have much news worldwide? No.

Actually, 90% of web contains information that is taken/stoled from other site. Don't you agree with me?

    No it's not.

Write your own unique, quality content for your site. I do that, plus I aggressively pursue anyone who copies text off my site to ensure that my content is 100% unique.

I'm talking about whole world, not just you or be. Hundreds of new blogs starting per day. Spammers? Farm sites?

Old mother Earth doesn't have enough content for everybody :D

Yeh, there is alot of dupe content on the web, you're right. But the fact that lot's of people are doing it does NOT mean that all content on the web is dupe, or that using dupe content is a good idea. :-D

Sure they are the same stories. You could even make an argument that most people rarely have a truly original thought of their own. But I was talking about how a search engine perceives content. And in that case, two articles written about the same keyword could certainly be made to be unique in the search engines eyes.

I´ve always heard that google favors wordpress over regular websites. Wordpress also seems to be a lot more convenient, with the plugins making life so much easier for a webmaster.

I had success with wordpress blogs. Just make sure you have the smart update pinger installed so pinging is done on new posts only else you may get banned.

It doesn't matter if the same news topic is covered on thousands of sites, as long as the text is written by the user, the chances of it being considered duplicate content is almost zero.

I think the flag in the search engines popup if they see 70% of the content which uses similar phrases and sentences. If you decide you want to use other news text, it is a good idea to either write something before and after the news to make sure the page has enough unique content to stay away from the flags.
