We never wanted to be in this war in the first place. The Republicans are smart enough to understand that, when attacked, you can't just decide not to be in a war. The Republicans are also smart enough to realize that this isn't a nationalist issue. The Democrats keep talking about Iraq and Afghanistan as if this was an issue of their national sovereignty. That's old thinking, and at the current time it is bad thinking. Nations are not important in a clash between cultures. Islamism is trans-national. Osama bin Laden understands this.
