Hi all, I can't understand people who submit their site and don't pay... they are wasting their time to put all the info and my time to delete it... for what? it is not that they will get it for free
Incredible but they do and they lose out two times Once because they get deleted Twice because other directories get to know about their practices
I used to get around 6/7 of those submissions even few days back -- but recently I upgraded 2 of my directory to phpLD 3.1 and they have stopped. Now they know that I can ban their IPs anytime and let all people know about their IP. I think upgradation is the best solution.
Those are called "Spam" Just like the spam you get in your email, yo'll get them in your directories. Not much you can do but to ignore and delete them, banning ip does not always work as they use proxie's to access your website. Banning email wont do much good either as they use a throw-away email or using a false address, this is somehing that is a part of the process and you'll probably need to tolerate it a little. Simply, ignore and delete, it's all you can do at this point.
I had something similar with a web forum based on PHPBB engine. It was vulnerable to automatic registrations and spam postings. I got tired of deleting messages, so the forum was closed. Now, I am thinking to move to vBulletin in a hope that this platform is more secure.
a lot of directory owners get confused and forget who paid and who didn´t and just approve whatever is in their cue. If there was no results in doing this, people wouldn´t do it. Best thing you can do is immediately delete those submissions, or email them asking what´s up.
something strange with Google half of the data centers return 0 and not only for this site. Is the pr update coming?
Was your directory free ever ?? If so, those submissions might be coming from some kind of "Directory submission service" As someone said, try to get 3.1 version (or better the new 3.2) and just block the IP's. (I am also getting some problem and I am gonna explain it here shortly )
i had always assumed that it was spam or automatic submissions..... perhaps a very small minority are those who change their minds. But i really don"t let it bother me.
