The Dow has just opened and has coasted past the 13,000 marker within minutes of the start of the day's trading

just shows investors aren't bothered about the economic slowdown concerns. Dow has closed higher 15 times in the last 16 trading sessions :D

My wife bought Cryolife (CRY) last year with $500 I suppose we could afford. She just cashed in her chips for $1000.

I'm invested in PVX collecting dividends and am up a few percent.

At the lower level there are always companies succeeding and always companies failing regardless of overall market performance.

I think this just indicates that it's going to be easier to find companies that will make money even if they don't deserve it. It's amazing how many stocks get pumped up just on speculation.

Its not just the Dow that is up....the Dow is the most watched though among the stock market. Furthermore, this is a great economy, as it is a great time to buy a house (not to sell one though!)...

As far as your link Ferret, do you know what GDP is?

Its actually not a bad thing that the economic growth is low, as that keeps interest rates in check. It just goes to show that back when the Fed was hiking the rates every time they met they were trying to keep inflation is check, because everything was growing so fast. Now the economy is keeping inflation in check by itself, which means the economy has stabilized.

But for you, its anything that is BOO AMERICA, right? lmfao!

I am extremely glad I didn't short the market yesterday. That would have hurt bad. :)

It's up over 40 points this morning also.

Sprint Nextel and Time Warner were both expected to post earnings around $.22/share....which is HUGE!...despite the war, the price of oil being out the wazzoo, and the poor housing market the economy keeps chugging along at a great pace (but not fast enough for the fed to raise interest rates!).

Investors are taking the money out of the housing market and flooding the Dow. No wonder it's going up. The question is: when it will go down?

If I knew that, I would know when to start shorting the market and I would soon be a billionaire. :)

I think a better question will be: When will the housing market come back...watch for the fed to adjust the interest rates then, and for the economy to stabilize itself.
