oh no....its still thriving. Especially here in the south. Southerners are actually not racist people, they are some of the nicest people you will ever meet. However, growing up in the south it is very apparent that before AA, you had to work hard to make a really good living...now, after AA, you can be lazy and still receive that same good living. Much of the same can be said for the welfare system as well, but I'm not going to open that can of worms.

I think a lot of presidential hopefuls jumped in too early.

They will end up burnt out both mentally, emotionally and financially. It also gives much opportunity for any opposition to dig up negative information.

I am firm believer a multi-party system of more than 2 parties, would be beneficial for the US.

For this to happen, third parties would have to become supported and main stream enough for people to believe in them as actual options. A good step towards this would be to have primaries for those parties as well, and for people to do research on LOCAL candidates instead of just national ones. If someone can advance to the state senate as a part of a 3rd party, then perhaps from there to the national senate, it raises the chance that people will begin to believe in third party candidates.

At the moment though, the chances of third party candidates are looked down upon about as much as minority and female candidates.

It looks like we're about to have our first Italian President! :)

It wasn't that long ago that Italians were considered a minority.

If a law is not enforced, is it still really a law?

There are hundred year old laws on the books in some states to make it illegal to sneese in a church, yet they are never enforced, people view them as just 'stupid laws on the books that aren't real' and they aren't even treated as laws by law enforcement.

I have seen that law enforced many times.

That law has cost me tens of thousands of dollars in compliance costs due to the paperwork it requires.

Haven't you ever had to fill out an I-9?

And yet somehow Walmart hires illegal immigrant Janitors, and there are loads of illegal immigrants working in construction, and field labor...

I'm sorry if I said it badly. I just want to see enforcement get to the point where it affects the influx. If a government agency finds out that illegal imigrants work someplace, it should be mandatory to report it.

Giuliani appears to be strengthening his lead:

    1. Giuliani 32.3%
    2. McCain 17.7%
    3. Thompson 11.0%
    4. Romney 8.6%

Clinton also doesn't seem to be facing serious opposition:

    1. Clinton 35.9%
    2. Obama 22.3%
    3. Edwards 17.1%
    4. Gore 13.7%

While in the general election, it looks to be another election where the party that "gets out the vote" will get the Presidency:

    1. Giuliani: 47.3%
    2. Clinton: 44.0%

I generally like his positions, but I don't think he performed well as HHS director did he?

Did anyone see the coverage from the big GOP gala in Iowa? They are not supposed to bash each other, but one candidate said "Rudy McRomney is not a conservative, elect someone who is." Forgive me for forgetting which candidate said it, it doesn't really matter, he might have just shot himself in the foot anyway.

What do y'all think of Bob Barr?

With Ron Paul eschewing the Libertarian Party, Barr makes a very interesting candidate.
