As much as I do use internet -speak online (being lol wtf omg lmao woot or even pwn3d), I can't stand to hear it in person.

    Seriously.
    Cut it out.
    Get a freaking life.

I couldn't believe my ears when the other day I heard a friend of mine actually say it..

    "He got so powned"

I practically burst out laughing at him.

Please guys, for the love of the internet - dont use internet slang offline.
    Its not cool.

Having said that, do any of you use it in every day language? I've heard "lol" and "w00t" before, and now even "pwned".

Agreed - it's an irritation when it's used offline. Same can be said of the very similar language of text-speak which now has an alarming propensity in the GCSE English exam answers of British school kids. The mind boggles.

It would be nice if people, all of a sudden, would have the desire to learn to comunicate properly, instead of relying on internet speak. I think our society would actually be a better place without it all together.

I think I'll start verbalizing smilies in real world conversations. Instead of giving a super big grin, I will just say "colon capital D" with digital emotion. If something sad occurs I will say "colon left parenthesis".

And if someone says LOL, JK or owned, I will shout out "Greater than colon left parenthesis" and scratch a href=http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=309290 into their arm with a rusty thumbtack.

    :D :) :(
