Q. Do Muslims believe in the virgin birth of Jesus?

    A. Muslims believe that Jesus (called 'Isa in Arabic) was the son of Mary, and was conceived without the intervention of a human father. The Qur'an describes that an angel appeared to Mary, to announce to her the "gift of a holy son" (19:19). She was astonished at the news, and asked: "How shall I have a son, seeing that no man has touched me, and I am not unchaste?" (19:20). When the angel explained to her that she had been chosen for the service of God, and that God had ordained the matter, she devoutly submitted herself to His will.
In the Qur'an and other Islamic sources, there is no mention of Joseph the carpenter, nor any recollection of the inn and manger legend. On the contrary, the Qur'an describes that Mary retreated from her people (outside the city), and gave birth to Jesus underneath a remote date palm tree.

The tree miraculously provided nourishment for her during labor and birth. (See Chapter 19 of the Qur'an for the entire story. The chapter has aptly been named "The Chapter of Mary.")
However, the Qur'an repeatedly reminds us that Adam, the first human being, was born with neither a human mother nor a human father. Therefore, Jesus' miraculous birth affords him no higher standing or presumed partnership with God. When God ordains a matter, He merely says, "Be" and it is so. "The similitude of Jesus before God is as that of Adam. He created him from dust, then said to him: "Be!" And he was" (3:59). In Islam, Jesus is regarded as a human prophet and messenger of God, not part of God Himself.

The angel you are referring to is named Gabriel.
As for the question, I'm not Muslim but I think the answer is no.

I like how Muslims keep highlighting the insistance of Muhammad of rewriting benign historical accounts recorded in the Bible.

I'm not sure what one would have to be smoking to write Joseph out of Christ's life. Having a baby out of wedlock makes you a whore. Joseph was there to legtimize the baby in the eyes of people who didn't believe it was a divine birth. Nobody would have taken him seriously if it appeared he had been born in sin.

We have human father's and God adopts us as his Children. Jesus was God's son and had a human father adopt him.

See what happens when you try to change a "benign" detail?

I think these threads are having the exact opposite effect of what was intended. These threads educate me on why Islam is not like Christianity at all and what Mr M taught that proved he was full of it.

They have to re-write it so that they can say they are the ones who have it correct, when in fact muhammed got it all wrong.

That would work out better for them if Muhammed wasn't such a terrible writer.

Everything in the Bible has a very tightnit symbolic meaning that ties various gospel messages together often on top of a very real historical event.

Somehow, turning Mary into a whore seems like a bad idea to me. Maybe he got confused about which Mary was which.

To have a baby you must have sex, which doesn't make you a virgin.
Mary claimed she was a virgin but she had a baby. oh that makes sence, wait don't pull out the "miracle" card.. Probably trying to cover up the fact that she got knocked up :)

Yes. Jesus (PBUH) did have birth from Virgin Mary. He was a beloved prophet of God and God wanted him to be a sign for the Jews at that time.
In the Surah Mary, it is mentioned that when Mary asked Gabriel how can she give birth even when no man has ever touched her, Gabriel said that It is God's Will. God says "Be" and it happens.
If God created Adam (PBUH) without parents, why couldn't He create Jesus (PBUH) without a father?

Ahmad, that has nothing to do with anything.

The problem is that Mr M decided to write Joseph out of the story for no good reason.

So now that Mary has this baby how is she supposed to support it? Because Joseph was written out of the story she's now the town whore and as such has no standing and no job.

Good job Muhammed. You just killed Jesus. All because he wanted to be "clever" and saw no point in Jesus having a human father around.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muhammad

What a coincidence. Muhammad's version of Jesus' life closely matches his own!

Muhammad (PBUH) had no knowledge! These are the revelations given to him by God! He didn't know anything! How come he decide to write something and leave out something?!

What a moron. If they wanted to call Mary a whore then why they wouldn't just say it and instead call Jesus a prophet?

There is plenty of sources from that time available that claimed the father of Mary's son was a Roman Soldier, Mohammad could have simply used that version if they meant to disrespect Mary or Jesus.

No, they weren't. Jesus had a human father that raised him as his own son. Muhammad didn't have a father and decided to change the story of Jesus so that Jesus also didn't have a father. Thomas Jefferson also rewrote the Bible to pull out only the "true" parts. Not so surprisingly, Jesus ended up being a lot like Jefferson.

The Bible contains a recorded history of first hand accounts. Muhammad picked the wrong person to deny the existence of.

The knew his parents. That's why they assumed that he was just a man like everyone else.

That may be part of the confusion which led Muhammad to claim Jews were human just like everyone else even though Jews never believed otherwise. So yes, I agree, he was uneducated. That's why he made mistakes and created silly arguments.

Mary is not regarded a whore in Islam! She was a very very pious lady and one of God's chosen people.
Muhmmad (PBUH) did not change any story. He just got Divine revelations!
If you think he was such a person, then why did even his enemies call him "The Truthful"?
    Anybody can answer this?

Jesus was a bastard child by societies standards according to Mr M's version of events. Mary getting pregnant out of wedlock and not knowing who the father of her son was, would make her a whore according the society of then and now. Mary would have been put to death in modern Islamic society. It was absolutely necessary for Joseph to be there as the adopted father of Jesus. Like you said, Muhammad was uneducated. That's why he would fail to recognize the error of making Jesus a fatherless bastard child.

Do you have proof that they actually called him that?

I think those two sentences say a lot on their own....and he left it out because he had to make people believe he was right...looks like it worked, as there are millions following a false doctrine.
