Hey guys, i was wondering if someone would be tell me the best sites for recording which visitors came to your website. Ideally i'm looking for 1)one which records ip addresses 2)one which records referrals (how they found the site) 3)one that is free 4)one that is private/password protected so that only i can see the stats. I looked at site meter but it looks like you have to pay? Thanks in advanced. x
I agree, I've been using statscounter ever since and trust me I've been to other free counter sites and they offer the best/most information about your visitors
Statscounter is among the better ones. Stick to it and it should work for you unless you have something more specific.
Also, consider using two stat systems. That way you can observe more things about your visitors and can compare services
I use google analytics but often i find that its up to the minute stats are lacking, also its referal source URL's are truncated and often quite useless. I do run a small script that can be found here http://www.textism.com/tools/refer/ which does a great job with refers as well as queries. one not about the script tho, if your get a ton of refers, i mean more than 50 a minute, it can cause a significant load on your servers CPU. but i use this more than google analytics, although it doesn't chart anything. a useful too none the less. i should also mention that the directory the script is in can be password protected, other wise you will get tons of porno related refers.
addfreestats.com is my favorite, but then i use analytics a lot! for ip address ads free stats works the best!
