Google recently filed a US patent which reveals a great deal of how they rank your web site. Some of it you could never have guessed at... How many years did you register your domain name for? If it was only one then Google could hold that against you. Have a look at this article that explain the google ranking system

Sorry Pal, the article is really worth a share.... maybe you might want to digg it and get some good hits as well as its really worth it Thanks
I quickly glanced thorugh the article, it was a nice read how much I read, but didn't have time to read every single bit. I can say that I knew quite a bit of that already and also the register domain would have been one that I would have also done if I had a search engine like google and what probably all the sites do. If you have a site and register for one year then it could be because you are not that serious, you are giving the web ago and may not have the site the next year, you may set up business and earn alot of cash and then run with the money, etc. A site that registers a domain for a longer period looks more promising to the search engines as it looks as if they are in it for the long run and not the short term thing.
Did they file a NEW patent? I think this article is at least a year old (it states it is June) - the patent is much older but the analysis is not and as presented has some interesting info...
Well written article! At least I have some insight of how Google actually modify its algorithms to rank good sites.
Excelent article. I have also ran across a patent application that confirms these observations. Rep given for a good contribution to the forum...
What a nicely written article. Domain age never being across my mind before. Gonna keep my domain from expiring. : )
i'm 60% sure, domain registration does NOT matter. I've previous experience on that, actually with 3 of my sites.
