There's this one domain or idiot of a domain holder that is really getting under my skin. He/she seems to be lurking in the deepest bowels of the internet constantly spamming my sites with forum URLs. I'm only going to type out "###root.info", to try and have some form of compliancy here. I have banned this idiot's entire domain and he is such a sticky roach under my shoe that it keeps coming back for more. Any ideas where and how I can go about ridding myself of this pest?
Is he/she registering with your site and posting comments on a forum or a blog? If so, add that information to the post. I had to tighten up registration for a forum I had to keep people from signing up using a script (made sure a human signed up not a program or script). If you mention the blog, community, or forum script that will help for suggestions.
It looks like the pest is taking threads from a variety of forums and posting them as links into my directory.
If I ban the IP it only comes back using a different IP or domain. Just change link submittal to registered, maybe that will slow it down. Unfortunately the downside to that is most don't want to register to submit URL's into directories.
It might be a script. Can you add or remove a field or a captcha (one of those graphical text items they need to type in)?
umm... you need filter.. something which removed urls of that particular site ... cant you ban that site ??
Are you referring to disabling the vis confirmation stuff on submittal page? Or just getting rid of it all together for a different type of verification script.
contact the registrars he uses, do searches on his info to find out who it is...and contact his internet provider...be mean
I have seen some cases where a field is removed like a field for URL (they can add to profile after they confirm and log in). If a submission is posted to the site with the URL you know a script (sends a form post to your site) did it because the form a human would use does not have that field.
Oh ok, I get what your saying..I'll try to see what I can do as a workaround until this knucklehead dies away.
