I managed to get a few automatically link to my site. If you have stuff that is educational then some of them will automatically link to your site. I have about 3 - 7 or even more linking to one of my sites and I get some traffic from them as some of the .edu sites have their classes use my site for a part of their studies.

I never would have thought that would happen when I set up a site, but I have a geography game on my site and they use them to tech their students where places are in the USA, Australia, etc.
