Ever wondered what it meant? Well, it's really simple actually. Cho was knowledgeable about biblical stuff. In the Bible, Abraham was going to sacrifice Isaac with a knife. In the Qu'ran, Abraham was going to sacrifice Ismail with an ax. Ismail Ax. Deliberate!
Nothing in particular. If you want my opinion, I think he was more anti-Christianity than pro-Islam. The Isaac vs Ishmael inheritance feud can be traced back to thousands of years of warfare between these two people who both claim lineage to Abraham by way of those two people. Arabs through Ishmael, the son of the slave girl Hagar, and Jews through Isaac, the legitimate but second-born. To say "Ismail Ax" is to take the Arab/Islamic side of the argument. I just find it amusing how the media pretends to be so clueless on this issue. Or rather, is withholding the truth from an ignorant American public.
You're a little late. http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=307185 I pointed out last week and Newsweek recently ran an article making the connection to the Biblical Ishmael. He was raised a Christian. The Biblical Ishmael was rejected by God, his father and was contantly at odds against everyone around him. There is no Muslim connection. He was just a very angry person who could relate to Ishmael and the suffering of Christ. Being an English Major, he was a bit dramatic. From what I heard on the tape I didn't hear any anti-Christian statements. He was very upset with the hyprocritical christians that bullied him in his campus ministry group. I think we should all be upset with that one. What kind of christian group has bullying which isn't stopped instantly by the pastor? The MSM grossly misrepresented him which highlighted the fact that nobody was listening to this kid. They just wanted to label him crazy rather than actually help him deal with his anger issues which were brought on possibly by sibling rivalry (sister went to Pincton, he goes to a state school) and definitly by bullying. Then surprise, he blows up. Just like nearly every other school shooter. Most people have the emotional capacity to deal with bullying. He didn't. A psychologist on the radio made the claim that all the bullying, etc was just in his head. That's real nice. I'd like to punch that psychologist in the face and then tell him I didn't do anything. It was all in his head. I can just imagine how much more pissed off the kid was when people denied that anyone was actually doing anything to him and on top of that, call him crazy and then fill him full of pills to kill his emotions. And then they wonder why he didn't say a thing as he went on his rampage.
