I'm sure this has been answered before but I couldn't find an answer searching the forum.

What is the easiest way to see if a new website has been indexed by Google?

    Thank you

    John

Thanks CountryBoy. This was the command I was looking for.

If you don't mind indulging me just a bit more, I have another question about this command.

I just used it for another of my sites and noticed that site:myurl.com and site:www.myurl.com produces slightly different results.

Is this something I need to be concerned about? For instance, do I need to setup a redirect from www.myurl.com to myurl.com?

Thanks for your patience with an SEO newbie.

    John

You can do that or set a preference using Google's Webmaster Tools.

I've read that Google no longer counts the www and non-www as duplicate content anymore, but don't quote me. Still reading up on some SEO myself!

Truthfully, you don't need to be unduely concerned about this. You can redirect if you want to, but as a newbie it probably isn't necessary. Be aware that there's an ever increasing tendency to drop the 'www' prefix.

in google webmaster there is an option to set association to www. or http:// or no association. you can change it there. At next visit, google will index your site without any association.
