Directory Submissions - How many? How fast? How worthwhile?

Discussion in 'Search Engine Optimization' started by remixman, Apr 21, 2007.

I have seen many services here on DP offering anywhere from 100 to 1000 directory submissions, these people seem to get a lot of business and turn around the submissions very quickly.

How important are directory submissions? Do they really help up your pagerank? and if they do, how many should you apply to and how quickly? Does Google look differently upon a site that added 800 directories within a few days?

    Hope you can help

    Hello,

Basically we do directory submissions because thats the best way to get one way links.

Yeah getting links from directories help you in high search engine ranking but only if they are fro suitable category / related category.

When you submit your website to say 800 directories inly few of them accept it with in 24 hours, to get listed in all it takes approx 2-3 months.

If u need any more info let me know.

    Thanks

Directories don't help much. The page dedicated to your site is usually PR 0, even if the home page for the directory is 5 or 6. The page with the category and your link has 25 or outgoing links to divide "link juice" among. Directory links are very easy to get, so (1) Google doesn't give them much weight, and (2) your competitors have already done the same thing, so they won't give you a head up on anyone.

I submitted my site to a few directories, but over all I don't think it's worth my time to submit to 100's of link directories.

Sure the directory may be PR 5 but the page that your link will be on will have tons of other links, and be essentially PR 0.

Not too long ago I received an email for a directory I completely forgot about saying they rejected my link. I must have submitted my link sometime last year. I thought it was pretty funny.

So yeah, I'd much rather dedicate my time to article marketing.

Yes it's very deserved to submit to directorys or use a service for this (but be aware 50$ for 500 submisions is fishy and you know you get what you pay for)

How many well 500 is a good as links come gradualy + they arent index imediatly by search engines

Ps : I ofer submission services olso but a litle higher as price as for DP "market"

imo- its worth a few minutes a day of your own time...and if you can afford it---on occasion pay to be in some of the better directories...cheap-mindless-fast excercise

Its very helpful to increase your site PR. But dont submit lots of links per day. Submit only 50 links perday.

I do directory submission by choosing the right people do it for me. I usually try everyone. And I always go back to the people that I have seen some good work.

I think a little bit of everything may help, even if it is only a little help in the ranking, still all these small factors put together sometimes makes it a big factor.

And btw... I have tried Raj (Robin), Sunil, Al, the guy that goes by Yogesh. They are all cool. I haven't had the opportunity to try jimkarter yet, but maybe on my next submissions. Personally, I like the quality of work Robin and Sunil does. Robin has this text file of reporting when done while Sunil had a status board update. The others, I probably go to them for the price. But I believe they are all cool. And the best way to find out who would work best for you is by trying them all.

Now if you want to do submissions yourself, well you can if you want to. I guess I am too lazy to do that and would spend more time thinking of my linkbaits and doing more on-page stuff.

Directory submission helps you increase backlinks you just need to wait for them to approved your links. Some directory approve fast but others approve after three months.

I started with submitting to about 500 directories. What google analytics told me was that traffic comes just from few of them. I am sure it wort to submit as much as you can, but only if it is automated process. If you have other way for making links better spend your time with that.

directories submissions are very effective but may take long to accept. And you may go on for article submissions also as they are picked up by different publishers worldwide.Their approval rate is still better than directories.
