Paypal steals money, beware..

    Guys,

I had a small sum of money in my Paypal account that I forgot all about. My mistake for leaving it there for 2 weeks.

I just logged into my account, and guess what...the money is not there!!

This is serious, money should not go missing from your account, be it $1000 or $10

    WTF is going on??

Anyone had this happen to them?

Contact PayPal and check your logs on the account to see if it was taken out as money shouldn't go missing on PayPal :)

I dunno, dont have experience on this cos previously, I always withdrawn soon after getting funds.

But this time I forgot about it, and today its no longer there. The history shows no withdrawal.

That's why its very mysterious. Of course I sent them an email but from what I have gathered from everyone, their customer service is the worst in the world.

Not optimistic I will get an answer, do you think they will admit to anything wrong?

    Edit:

I just paid $XX amount to someone from my account, so does that mean they (Paypal) deducted from my account balance automatically? I'm going to check further my credit card statement...

Just check your history in paypal. You can do a complete list of any date range you want. That will tell you exactly when the money arrived (if it did) and where it went.

    Thanks guys,

but to be honest its just $XX amount, so I'll wait and see what they say. I'll have to check my CC statement to see if indeed they use my balance and deduct from my CC charge.

That might be a plausible answer.

Before this, I've always withdrawn within a couple of days, so never had this problem.

And what did your history log say? Everything should check out in your history log...

If you paid someone through Paypal, you will see a funding method on the payment invoice or page. If you do not have existing funds, you will see the last 4 digits of your credit card in there.

Check your history log like the rest said. I don't believe that Paypal will just remove money like that.

Of course if there was a dispute and you did not respond to that, they could return the money to your customer. If it was a refund through a payment made from a credit card, it will be automatically returned to the credit card.

The only thing I could think of is that your account may have been hacked, do you remember receiving any supposedly emails from paypal telling you about some transaction you did not make or to change your password or to log in for something that you are not aware of ? If so, you may have been phished.

PayPal doesnt removes money like this....few possibilities

Your account got hacked or you set someone payment.

Just one answer - Check your History log and you'll know where it was gone, even if they charged your CC, its written there as well. So, thats the better option than waitig for statement...

Relax, they took money but for a reason. Give them a call and ask. The balance may have partially funded an online purchase.

    Good luck

If you have more than one paypal account, check the other one. I got two accounts and sometimes I don't remember which account has money :)
