Is $100 Too much for a PC Game

It seems the price of new release games just keeps going up and up. Do you still buy new release games or wait until the price comes down?

$100 isn't too bad, depends on how much of a hardcore gamer you are though (I personally wouldn't pay that much 'cause I know I don't have time to play it). But if you can spend those 8 hours straight on those games... sounds like its worth it!

Well, it depends on if you think you'd get $100 of enjoyment out of it. Personally, unless it's a game on the top of my list I'll wait until it's a bit cheaper.

It depends on the game.. If it's one of those sports games from EA then I'd suggest waiting - they're never worth it.

What game are you talking about?

I ALWAYS wait for the price to drop. I will never pay $100 for a computer game, period. A computer game does not appreciate in value, unless it becomes rare, and even then, it is still susceptible to piracy.

When it comes to video games, I follow the $10 rule. I just recently got a copy of Half Life 2 from the pawn shop nearby. It might be "old" to some people, but it was "new" to me, since I never played it previously. Half Life 2 cost me $10.74. The person who originally purchased it paid $50. I'm the winner, and they're the loser.

Video games always drop in price. Wait about eight months, and you will get them for a bargain. Here is how much I've paid for my consoles:

    1.Xbox - $120 - Original price: $300
    2. 2 Sega Dreamcasts - $100 - Original Price: $199(I purchased two, so the total original retail price is $398)
    3. Playstation 2 - $70 - Original Price: $300

Total savings on consoles: $509 + $199 for second Dreamcast = $708 total savings

Trust me, I could go out tomorrow and buy a PS3, Xbox 360, and a Wii without even scratching my net worth. But since I follow the rules of Robert Kiyosaki and the Millionaire Mind, as well as my own upcoming ebook, I don't pay retail for items that don't appreciate in value.

I would like to thank all of you who pay retail value for video games. I just love it when you pawn them, so I can get them for wholesale prices. I wouldn't be able to save money without you guys :)

$100 is quite expensive, you could probably pick it up 2nd hand in a month or so for quite a discount

    hey Alstar,

Just curious what country you live in? What video game is priced at $100. With the exception of a select few (very few) special collectors editions, I've never seen a game priced at $100 in the US.

Depends, really. Is it an MMORPG? Are there monthly fees?
What is the game? Let me see, and *maybe* I'll be able to tell you if it's worth it or not. :)

I remember I spent $100 on FFXI for the PS2. Ending up paying like $15/month just to play it (since it was an online-only game).

Got so addicting too. I loved it, but I wasted like a whole year out of my life with it. :p

    <33 FFXI
    But hate it.

    No...

    <33 FFXI

    ...hate it.

    <33 FFXI..

    ..hate it.

    I don't know...FFXI r0x0rs..
    Addicting though.

    I miss it.

    BAH!

Yeah, that's the problem with MMORPGs. They're addicting, but they consume way too much time. T_T

Agreed. The reasons I don't play MMORPG's is the monthly price adds up quick and is too high and they are time suckers.

I mean, Xbox live is $4.16 a month, WOW is around $15 i think. One you get to play unlimited amount of games online, the other you get to play one game. Of course WoW is a different experience and it's a much larger gaming world but I think it's over priced.
