How long before a page ranks on the SERPS.

So today you have written a unique article with lets say 350+ words, that webpage now has several backlinks and etc.

How long does it take for a web page to rank in Google if it was optimized, you know h1 tags, h2, decent keyword density etc.

I am asking this because I have a 2 year old domain, the keywords that I am targetting are not very competitive and I have added about 20 pages of unique content, I want to know when I will start to see some SE traffic.

Post your own experiences here thanks!

Thanks for the comment, I am not talking about Pagerank I know when that is updated, what I want to know is on average after a page has been indexed in Google how long does it take for that page to rank for a certain keyword.

    All comments appreciated! :)

It takes as long as it takes, no gauge as each term or niche is different!

Can anyone give an example of how long did it take for your article to start getting search engine traffic?

You have to work on links for the keywords before they'll rank high. Unless the words are not competitive.

Optimize your inpage well and you should add more on your quality backlinks of your page... and wait for your site to appear on SERP result...

After doing on-page optimization on my site. I'm trying to get more links from quality sites and related sites using my targeted keywords as anchor text.

You mean how long your page would appear in the top? It would take a long trip, depends on the age of your website. :)

No, new sites wont be left out if you get links to them! If it doesnt have a lot of links though the PR will not update to it, nearly every site will get a PR1 with just a couple of links though!

It usually takes me one to 3 days for longtail keywords.. competitive keywords might take some time but will gradually rank if your site is well optimized and has a strong natural link profile.

i think its hit or miss when it comes to ranking i have bought a new domain and built a site and have it be on page 1 for keywords that get over 3k searchs per day and totaly avoid the sandbox and other times i would get sand boxed. I think its best to make your site and get links to it from other related websites dont submit it to dirctores and search engines they will find it naturaly.
