Recently I bought a laptop with Windows Vista Business on it. Had a good machine with 2 gig ram and other good hardware on it. No complain about the speed since I knew before it will eat lot of memory for its unnecessary cool graphics(in my opinion) I had enough memory. But problem comes with softwares. Most of the softwares I used to use with XP need some kind of patch, or some upgrade. This is just not cool of Microsoft. When they develop something new, making people buy their new stuffs is really bad of them. There should be enough support for legacy softwares.
I share your pain. 80% of the software on my computer is buggy or just won't work at all (running Vista Home Premium). I suppose it's just one of those things that'll eventually be fixed, as was the case when XP was released.
And it sucks that many new computers come installed with Vista... so if you really want XP you havta reinstall which is a hassle
I couldnt play VDV on windows vista business. I found this solution from a site for codecs to fix the problem. Now I can play dvd. I posted it here. May help some fellow dp members. Windows Vista Ultimate I think comes with codec to play DVD. Its only home and business which needs it. http://www.webcosmo.com/listing/Details.aspx?countryId=1&gId=1&postId=1354
I have vista, and from 250 giga I buy vista use 50 - every 2 days it's take 5 giga more... but noe it stop. In the programs I have a problem like you... I ue winfast PVR and when I close the software its don't stop th music.
I am buying a laptop soon- should I get it with vista business, or go for XP? I'm confused. Will these problems be worked out soon?
I'd honestly take the time and make the effort to reinstall the XP for now. Cool graphics and all are cool but if you normally have around 20 extra applications to install on a Vista machine, get ready to face some trouble with that. It is regrettable that we have to deal with software incompatibilities.
I personally like Vista. It is especially incompatible with video things because of Desktop Window Manager, and Microsoft's requirement of signed drivers. I have new HDTV capture card, made in late 2006, which doesn't work under Vista. Other than that though, I much prefer Vista over XP.
they made this thing really cool in graphics. to get that done, there is lot of load on the processor. kind of unnecessary. it appears they just made a way to earn money just because they can. god bless them.
Actually you're totally wrong. It's the opposite. In Windows XP, 2000, 9x etc the screen is processed by the CPU, which is inefficient and slows down your system. The whole point of Aero is that it finally uses your video card's GPU to process the screen, which frees up your CPU. That's why they can add all the eye candy into Vista without slowing down your system, and in fact your system will actually run faster with Aero enabled.
Buy a new system with newest and greatest operating system from Microsoft, reminds me of Windows 95 days. Software and hardware problems and lots of headaches for the user. I am thinking of buying a new system, but I am going to sit back for a few months till the air clears.
Thats vista for ya, I'm thinking of buying it but I will wait a year for all the main errors to be sorted.
excatly, when microsoft will release a service pack, vista will work fine as xp! but for now, xp will work for me!
