I can't understand why people wouldn't think the sandbox exists. Take my site for example. I have a 975 ranking for my top keyword. I have a great site, with tons of unique content, and decent traffic from other keywords. What is interesting, is the number of absolutely pathetic sites that are ranked ahead of mine. I don't mean average sites, but sites that look like they haven't been updated since rat tails and mullets were fashionable. With my site only 3 months old, I can only assume it is the sandbox that keeps me from top rankings.
Unfortuantly the sandbox does exist, with the right approach it can be beaten in 4 months, some sites suffer more then others, check out this article it might help you: http://seoarticles.seoforgoogle.com/google-trustrank.cfm
Same stuff here. 200th position for main keyword but the website gets traffic from low-traffic keywords. It does exist for sure.
Interesting link, although it seems to be focused at e-commerce sites that sell products or services and engage in financial transactions. For sites (like mine) that are educational or informational, I'm not sure how relevant most of the suggestions would be. I do, though, register my domain name for the full 10 years on all of my active sites.
Yep get the name registerd for 10 years, make sure your address and telephone number is on and get a HackerSafe badge even if it is not ecommerce, I didn't read it untill after my site was out so I haven't really ticked off many boxes but I have used the techniques on some of my clients sites and they have worked, things not mentioned are a Yahoo Directory listing (thay can really help as well) and trusted links, .gov's and .edu's are the best if you can get someone to hook you up or your countries equivilant like .ac.uk's and .gov.uk's for the UK.
Yeah sandbox do exists. Get your domain registered for at least 5 years. Make your whois public. That will do you good.
6 months! I am hopeful it goes a little quicker than that. Has anyone seen an overnight boost in traffic from finally ranking with your top keyword?
I checked one of my sites today I had given up on and it finally got out of the sandbox. Oh it exists alright!
It took 9 months to leave the sandbox. From being unranked or 900th for about 9months, then jumped straight into page one for themain keyword.
I've put up two sites in the last few months that have gotten good SE results within a few days or a week at most. One site that I registered on April 6 is getting first page results for a few keyword phrases. My first visitor from a Google results page was on April 17. Both of these sites were related to time sensitive events (one was new Years EVe events listing), so perhaps that has something to do with it? (The second is not a holiday, but is related to a news event).
Are you checking your site on any specific data center or normal search. If its on specific data center update then can you pls give us IP address of the same.
Yes .. my research show that the sandbox or "trust-rank" is real. If you try to rank new website for high results keyword you wont because you have to prove your value first! On the other hand if you show new keyword that did not exist before you won't be "sandboxed" and you will rank very well. This was proven by the GlobalWarming Awareness2007 competition for which there was no sandbox and the domains popped up within 24 hours of their creation. That's my observations .. Cheers, Venetsian.
My site created April 6 is currently ranking #6 out of 250k for one keyword phrase - not a high result phrase, granted, but not a new one either.
My main website seems to be emerging. It is a year old domain registered for 10 years. Tonnes of links. It was on the second page for most keywords last monday but then dropped back after a few hours. the website is 7 months old.
It depends on the keyword used, some seem to not have a 'sandbox' to them, but that has only happened to me on 3 niche's so far, aside from longtails.
I'll ask again, because I am very curious. On the day, or week that you exit the sandbox, do you see a dramatic incease in traffic and earnings? For me, my main keyword is searched for thousands of times a day. If I were to get into the top 10, then certainly I could expect a big increase....right?
