Well sort of. IT IS Just a Rumor: StumbleUpon To Be Acquired By eBay

I know a few people know about the rumors flying about ebay's interest in StumbleUpon. So I guess we have to wait and see. One less thing Google will acquire.

I wonder what this buy out will cause StumbleUpon to become? I really hope they don't change anything because that site is good how it is.

For advertisement! I don't think they'd start charging, that would being the business down.

I hope it is really just a rumour :D

Assuming it pans out, I wonder how much the acquisition price would be. Probably would depend on how much VC $$$ was sunk into stumbleupon.

Apparently it is true. Ebay bought StumbleUpon for $40 - $45 million. And Google lost out in the deal and wants to fight back implementing something similiar to StumbleUpon in the Google Toolbar.

Given stumbleupon's fast growth rate, $45M sounds like a steal! Way to go, ebay!

This seems like a dumb idea to me. eBay has no need to get into that market. Their money would be much better spent elsewhere... like for example they should be lowering their fees a bit and putting more money into bettering their services..

I read this somewhere a few days back.

Hopefully it's not true. I can't imagine what eBay would do with stumbleupon if they did buy it.
