Nordu (www.nordu.net) registered on either Dec 31, 1984 or Jan 1, 1985 is older

If my memory is correct, the first domain ever registered was in fact a .net.

 

Now thats interesting, I checked google and all the old domain lists point to symbolics as oldest, but nordu.net is indeed created on 01/01/85.

May be symbolics is the oldest dotcom

 

It looks like it. I can't find any .com that's been created before March 1985.

I am sure it was a long time ago. I would love to own that old of a domain. Means when it's time to sell it, money and a lot of it.

 

There was a documentary on it. You probably know, but it was about the transfer documents getting forged and the dispute of the guy that stole sex.com. And ye, the money that would be made from that site!
