Do you guys let unused domains expired

I have accumulated some domains which were registered on pulse, but never used or developed (heck I didn't ever bother to login to control panel).

What do you guys do with such domains - let them expire?

Its hard feeling to let them expire (makes me feel guilty of not developing them) :(

I must have around 20-30 domains which are untouched from the day they were registered and now their renewal time is coming up and it ads up to around xxx $ every year.

Yes, let registered domains expire is not pleasant thing.

I registered almost all domains with Godaddy, because it provides free web hosting with domain name registration.

So I just develop a simple site with unused (unimportant domains) domains with free hosting, do little SEO and them go for one year, to see if it is going little bit well in search engine, if good, put more efforts to continue to develop it, otherwise just let it expire, because you do not have time for all sites.

Yes, I got caught in that situation before and I did let some of those domain names expired. There are some which I keep if I know I will work on them some time later.

How do you define profitable domains, $10 profit is OK or $100?

Well, I guess if it is monetized and getting more than what it cost to renew the domain names then it should be considered profitable. I supposed most domain names which are left to expire probably have no contents and there is no plans to develop them and could not be sold.

I usually drop them or sell them at a discount.

I think it would be a better strategy to park the domains and make them a little bit older, then their price may increase.

Drop them if they're crappy domains that are not worth anything, of you could try & sell them for a few bucks if it's possible

What are the domain names? And how old are they? Maybe one of us would be interested in them.

Most parked domains at Sedo seem to lose their PR, any better options?

It's always worth trying to sell them at any price rather than none.

I try to sell off my unused domains 2-3 months before expiry.

By then I know if I am going to use them or not. No use holding unused domains.

As sachin said a month or 2 before expiry sell them for cheap, or id give them away to dp members for free before letting them drop.
