Webmasters Capitalize on VT Shootings

The red ink on the shooters arm stated "Ismail Ax".
Of course, it was only a matter of hours before a TV repair man in Texas bought the domain name.
Bloggers are going crazy throwing videos into the fray hoping to get in on the action while plastering ads all over their pages.

This is what technology has provided for us in today's market.

Is it a sad state of society as a whole, or have you been scrambling to capitalize as well?

Some have morals, some don't. I don't know who's worse...the people snapping up all the variations of stupid domain names thinking they'll make a buck or the fools that buy them. While it is disgusting that someone even thinks about capitalizing on grief and sadness, they have to live with the stupidity of being who they are. If I were ever approached with something like that, they'd get the finger and a F*** you.

Free speach or not, I think DP should not allow any selling or buying of domain names or websites that deal with tragedy just to make a buck...hell, I'd ban them if I were in charge.

seriously, what are these people thinking? anna nicole smith domains are still being registered and sold. 31 innocent people die and all they can think of is making a few extra bucks. very dissapointing.

    they did? When was this?

Banning them is not right though either, it's a moral judgement, and nobody can say they wouldnt make the same moral decision if they were in someone elses shoes. Perhaps the tv repairman hadnt eaten in two weeks and has 3 kids starving at home, and fought with the choice, but decided this was his last chance to maybe feed his kids.

with that said, I would never freaking do it in a million years, Im not going to hell

 .. even taking 1/2 I would disagree, best would be to donate all of the money.. and save a bit to cover expenses for the domain/site (not much at all).

but what can be done with the domains? a memorial website WITHOUT ads allover would be decent...but who would pay a lot of money just to buy the domain? it is easier to just blog about it for free and plus it shows that you care.

A memorial site is nice.. but even fundraising for a good cause in the same of.. the event would be better (take action)

Some would be looking for type-in traffic.
