Hi there, I've been looking at my website stats and I'm getting hits from google.co.uk/search. I'm just wondering, is there a way of finding out what it is that they are searching for? I'm interested to find out the terms that they are entering to the search engine, before it links to my website. Thanks for any help. Matt
You can use Google Analytics, a free and very good tracking solution: http://www.google.com/analytics/
you may install PHPMYVISITS: runs on your server, it's my favorite, has some bugs but nothing serious, have not security holes or ewebcounter: runs on their server or statcounter: popular but no so easy
Your web server logs are REALLY good reporters of that data IF you're webhost is running like AWStats or some other form of traffic data. I personally love AWStats and Google Analytics is pretty useful as well. It is free too so you can't beat that. What I love about AWStats is that not only does it give you the keywords but IP addresses, geographical locations, countries, which web bots have crawled your sites and when the last visit was, which pages are being visited the most and so much more data. On my web host it comes free with my cPanel account.
I am suprised your stats would show traffic from google uk search but not link it came from. If it shows link that should have keywords they searched in it.
Awstats is not so good as Satcounter in keyword tracking. In statcounter, it clearly states which keywords visitors input into the search engines. You'd better load a statcounter project to track the keywords.
check your site stat (if you have one) mostly they will give you all info like no.visitor, where are they from (site), keywords search and link page. you might can get some useful info. check your domain control panel they might have it.
You can used the Google Analytics, Statcounter and Awstat , this are the seo tools used to track the number of user visiting the site.
Add a site search engine by following this link www.freefind.com.. Easy to use and free.... it emails weekly search of keywords from your website....
