Does anyone plan on buying that then? It sure sounds like a promising disk.

Some articles in wikipedia are inaccurate since it can be edited by the public. I'm not really a fan of the site.

I totally agree, it's never ever going to be entirely accurate but the majority of entrys are really well researched.

ya. it seems a bit unnecessary to me. It seems like anyone who would need the information contained in wikipedia would already have access to it.

If i were looking for an offline encyclopedia cd-rom, why would i pick wikipedia over a legitimate encyclopedia? (Encarta, Britannica, ect.) Especially if I was using it for research papers or something of that sort.

It seems like an offline version of wikipedia effectively enhances all of the negative aspects of wikipedia, without any of the positive benefits.

I think it's not much of value! we have all the resources all over the web. That should be enough. :D

Don't think I would buy the CD.. can't imagine not having the internet.. to comment on the CD idea: you kind of loose that freedom where peopl can edit the articles.. and also it wouldn't be updated (if you haven't noticed WIKI also covers popular culture items as well!!)

am 18 hours a day online, do you think i have time offline to go through wiki!

there are some better stuffs ofline, like the encyclopedia britanica, and encarta etc which are more reliable! so i don't see any reason why human edited wiki should be bought!

in my openion wiki should not sell the public articles, as i have seen many people post copyright stuff there, violating the copyright laws. wiki can be sued if they do something like this!

I had this idea awhile ago but didn't contact them because there website said that they only did things that were non-for-profit and they didn't want to sell anything for money.
