I want here to compare 3 directories and how each one these is promoted. Which one do you think is best promoted, and here I am not talking about aggessive promotion, I mean what it is best for the long run and especially which one has a better ROI. Alive: Very aggressive in buying links, especially in directories. He relies alot on name recognition and he doesn't hesitate to buy PR0 links for more than $500 to prove to everybody that is doing his insanely promoting his directory and than it is worth that they submit in it.. Aviva: He is also aggressive in buying links, but he tends to be more picky. he is after the name recognition also and he spent more than $1000 for a nofollow link just for that. He is also using link baiting. 2yi: from what I can see, he doesn't buy links, he sponsors themes and that's where most of his links come from. I myself prefer how aviva is promoted. Alive is way too much promoted and can trigger an audit. 2yi is a very nice directory but the owner can still do a little more. I think everybody can learn lessons from this discussion, so please this is not for general chat.
All 3 are awesome directories..You should submit in all of them.. Because i think Alive is promoted heavily so it is worth the submission fee and Aviva is also promoted heavily.2yi however is not promoted heavily but is very strong directory and cheap too.I submit my all new sites in it! Saad
Looks like you know those 3 people quite much..lol.... And yeah,Jeff is very picky.....And it seems that Chris purchases links everywhere...
Its all about the cash you have bro. You go each directory and extract the links and you'll see. Monthly, Quarterly, Yearly, Sitewides. From $1 to $500 per link. How they all fair http://www.freewebsubmission.com/link-popularity.html
the agresiveness is good but think that not everybody has the kind of money to manage that. anyway, good luck to them, they're doing a good job....one thing i'm curious, is it worth it in terms or ROI?
guys this is not another hommage thread to them, I was asking about the best way to promote a directory, they took different approaches, which one is better...
The leaders in this industry know something most others can't admit, "You gotta spend money to make money".
Actually I have never sponsored a theme for 2yi. My vote goes to Aviva, Jeff is doing an excellent job
What's your target PR and PS. You have to have lots of Digs at Paypal Account. Dinero - Money - Okane - Pera
I have not votted at all --as I can't differentiate between all 3 of them -- all 3 directories are extremely good and of high quality. While I can share my opinion on the 3 owners. Chris ( Alive) -- Though I don't know much about him as a person--my assumption is that -- he eats-dreams-and lives online and enjoys being a webmaster. Fearless of Google -- he is an agreessive promoter - for whom the line between over-promotion and agreessive promotion is BLURRRRRR. Thats why -- not only his directory --but his other sites are top-dogs in their respective fields. Jeff (Aviva) -- although he too is an agreessive promoter like Chriss - I think he is more measured -and a bit sceptical about over- promotion. So he is relying more on innovations and contents for Aviva from what one can see from his lots of blogs on the left menu of Aviva directory. I saw many blogs and experts giving rave review on his http://www.avivadirectory.com/successful-blog-launch/ Dimitris (2yi) -- Well I read his interview with Jeff ( Here)---and all I can say is he is very srewed. As he is also involved in an Off-line profession --I think he wouldn't mind if I say Directories are his secondary options. But the way he took 2yi to top is just amazing. Since I enetred into directory field 4 months back --I had studied these 3 directories ( including some other top-dogs ) for a long time --in order to learn. And I think they are the right example for wannabe directory owners like me of how to be successful in the industry.
Thanks for your analysis jhnrang. dkessaris, I am sorry they were not sponsored, you designed them right? but what I meant is that you get most of your links from wordpress themes.
Thats why I said srewed! Dimitris -- is cool --and knows about what Google likes and dislikes and knows how to get high quality links. One has to have lots of understanding ad knowledge of the internet to follow him (sadly I don't have it). If I could get 10% of his links --I would been over the moon. Most of us just look for directories to get good PR links. But majority of his links are from other sites. That is why he is such a clever man.
