What are your thoughts? After seeing China's progress with Pebble Bed reactors, I don't see why we don't invest gazillions of dollars into the technology, since its returns are so great for the price.

I personally don't think that it is a path worth seriously following. Unless we can come up with a really good way to deal with all of the radioactive waste, then we can never make it mainstream. I personally think that we should be focusing our research on more efficient wind, solar, water, and bio power. Nuclear power could possibly be a short term solution to buy us a little more time.

There really isn't 'all that waste'. The amount of waste is very low.
You know battleships are nuclear powered and only have to 'refuel' once every 50 years?

How would you handle the destruction of a nuclear reactor by a foreign army? Please answer my question.

Solar energy is my fav alternative.

depends on what the reactor is used for, and how the process of getting one goes...

    A) is it for energy?
    B) is it for weapons?
    C) does the country really need it?
    D) are they trustworthy enough to have it (i.e. is an energy program a cover for weapons?)
    E) why do they want it so bad?
    F) will they let others construct the plant for them?
    G) will they abide by World Guidelines?

and the let goes on...again, thats a question that is poorly worded in that it doesn't ask for specifics.
