is it good to put adult category in general directory. will it affect the directory reputation??/ what are your views?
I would add an adult category, but once clicked on a person would have to enter the DOB, and if over 21, no not 18, but 21, they could pass.
On my directory and future directories ive chosen to have no Adult category, but whether its the right thing to do or not i dont know.
Many advertisers [those through CJ, LinkShare etc] will deny your application if any adult, gambling, alchohol or warez links are in your directory.
totally your choice..... Having a catagory with sexuality or anything else adultish WILL NOT hurt your website or directory with the "serps"........ though adding them type of sites "sitewide" will have negative results as it will be seen to google that on everypage in that directory has an adult site or link so your directory will start showing up for that type of content.... Anti Sex Fanatics will not be submitting anymore BUT regardless i run them in most of my directories... Yahoo still lists adult services, they just charge them more. There is so much of a Political Correctness stigma associated with Adult Stuff. But the reality is it is a multi BILLION dollar business. Someone is purchasing those services. Big Corporations like GM like to keep it "under the table". Honestly who owns the satellite networks, the cable TV services? Where do they get there content and who buys it? If your "service" warrants it, and it's profitable to you then I see no problem with it. But if you want to combine it with services that have anything to do with a population under 21 I'd avoid it entirely. There is constant congressional pressure to do something about Adult content on the Internet; even through they are clueless as to how.
I don't find anything wrong with either gambling or Sexy sites! Is not it part of our lives? Take it cooly-noramlly. If your directory is general --how could you it be a general directory without an important part of our lives? Ok--if you put family friendly directory tag --thats another matter. I have the category on one of my directory. Besides --if Google thinks Gambling sites and Adult sites are bad --why does it assign high PR on many of them? I guess it just depends on outlook.
EXACTLY, beleive it or not sex is an important part of our lives so why adult category is treated so inferior.I plan to put in my directory but afraid of the consequenses.i am not talking about serp's consequenses,i am talking about the pshycological pressure which will be put by my relatives if they know about adult category in the directory. I think the public is now more mature than ever,they should be given freedom to view whatever they like.
I agree, I have an adult categ and that does not bring any bad . It's just more boring to register an adult and/or gambling site inside the dir. (recip required for them).
Google doesn't like porn Many people don't love it .... So i think all is abot ethic + you risk penaltys
who says google do not like porn. google is a search engine not man a person who will have his likes or dislikes. i have heard this many times "google does not like porn" oh common man,this is all wrong. everything thing has its own importance.
Google may not mind them but if you accept payment for listings from these sites through Paypal , they might have an issue.
