Some people on this forum are so annoying and frustrating...

Sometimes I wonder why even bother posting a question... It seems like so many users just keep making totally useless replies with stuff they make up, just to get their high post count.
    For example in this thread:

    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=297407

Some guy with a 1400+ postcount replies:

"If your not using Flash, Javascript may be able to do the job."

    to my question:

"I'm looking for a solution to make a sliderbar where people can slide some sort of bar in a form, for easily selecting a number from 1 to 50. Is there a way to achieve this without using Flash?"

Javascript MAY BE ABLE to do the job?????
Ofcourse javascript may be able to do the job... Javascript may be able to do millions of jobs. That post adds ZERO value to the forum.

It's not just this example that's annoying, I see it in almost every thread. People posting totally useless replies. Even stuff they make up, because they think it's the correct answer to something... How does one know what information is based on facts and what information is made up by some numbnut trying to get a high postcount??

Ok, this post may also be a bit useless, but i still want to hear what others think about this...

It is worth remembering that this is a free forum and is entirely community driven and when a member makes a reply to you he/she is doing it for free and out of the kindness of his/her heart.

Just like I have done in this thread. ;)

I think you are too sensitive. That javascript reply was nothing but someone trying to help you. If you want expert advise, you need to go spend some money and not bitch about the free advice.

whenever im at my wit's end trying to find an answer to something, i just post it at dp, and in no time , people offer answers.

ofcourse, i could just have asked google, but people are better. !

    fatabbot, i am with you.

I understand people try to help each other. However, if you don't know, or not sure about something, don't post.

Not only you didn't help, in most case you point people in wrong direction which create even more confusion.

If someone ask you a question, you either know the answer or you don't know, there is no maybe

This is public forum, not the private tutoring with flash and javascript experts. I hope you see the difference.

I know it's a free and public forum. I learned alot on this forum and I'm very thankful to those people that do post great quality threads, just to help others. But, it's not because this a public forum, that it's ok to post totally useless posts with false information, just to get your postcount up.

I love it when a thread has two pages where every post is giving the same advice.

Here's another possibility: people are leaving a comment because they want to increase their post count. I find it annoying too when people are so quick to post in a thread but the advice that they offer is worthless. It makes for a lot of useless posts.

Of course this post could be considered useless too, well, hopefully not. After all it is my opinion and you know what they say about everyone having an opinion and something else!

I completely agree. I owned a forum before I sold it last year that I found people constantly doing this.

This is not a paid to help forum. Those who try to reply are not getting anything in return. Hence you will have to live with this spam.

And I don't find any problem with the reply that JavaScript may be able too do the job, unless someone else has already specified that. Ofcourse, you and I know that Javascript can be made to many jobs, but that is not the case with hundreds of other members in this forum. And the replier has no idea of what your level of knowledge is. So if you think that replies to your thread are not living up to your expectation, you can either report it to the mods or just ignore it.

Why people measure your "rank" by posts number?
There are many guys who have 3000+ post here. Many of them are teenagers who have plenty of time before exams.

If you need professional answer use elance or yahoo answer.
