I think that a bit of clarification is called for.

First of all, GTech, are you talking about the reason that we went in, or the reason we are there now?

And why are people bringing up Israel and Palestine in a thread about Israel?

Well, given that it's been brought up... given that Israel is a nation, who should get to set Israel's immigration policy? Israel, or other nations?

My posts do not need clarification, they stand on their own.

Well I'm asking you to clarify what you mean, because how I read your post, and how others seem to be reading your post are very different. This implies some amount of vagueness.

The vagueness is in what you are asking and alleging. Instead of asking me to go back and figure out what you are referring to, go to the post which you believe you have a grievance over, click reply, and ask a direct question. That's not asking too much, is it?

Don't worry about it. Gtech is too much of a coward to openly post what he thinks and means. ;)

He also knows that if he openly admit to the logical conclusion of his insane postings, he will be ridiculed, so he tries to keep it vague.

I was attempting to get you to elaborate, so that I could understand what you actually meant, rather than asking you "did you mean A, or B" and presenting you with a false dichotomy. But since any time I ask you to elaborate you get bent out of shape, I'll quote it and present you with the two things I think you might mean, and ask you to choose which one is closer, as I was trying to avoid.

Do you mean that our continuing presence, vrs our leaving, is due to the Iraqi government asking us not to leave... or do you mean that the reason we went in is because the Iraqi government asked us to come in the first place?

We are there at the request of the Iraqi government. That is clear. Of course not at the request of the "former" government (saddam).

Good grief, Josh! You went to all this trouble over *that?* I'm glad I did make you go back and actually quote what was giving you heartache. I'd never have imagined it was that.

A better argument might be over whether to put carrots in beef stew!

To be -crystal clear-. The reason we went in was not because of the request of the Iraqi government. The reason we are -staying- there is because of the current Iraqi government. Yes?

Josh, already answered. I was -crystal clear- the last two times. What gives? Are you suffering from some anxieties I'm not aware of? This is not typical of you. It doesn't matter how you reword it each time, the answer will pretty much be the same. Third time's a charm? If you have a point, make it.

    Some do.

But this is when you learn the meaning of majorities and representation. And isn't Sadr the guy who leads one of the bigger insurgent groups against the US forces? Not surprising why he'd want us gone.

He is probably the most powerful person in Iraq, eventually he will probably run most of the country if he isn't killed first

If that was the case, I wouldn't be asking.

Look. Bottom line. The reason we went in was NOT because the current Iraqi government wanted us there. It didn't exist yet. That's what a lot of the posters have been railing at you about. We invaded. We occupied. During this the new Iraqi government was set up. Now the current Iraqi government is asking us to stay.

I was trying to get you to clarify your position so the ranting from both sides where people are talking about different things but were treating it like a single conversation wouldn't happen any more, and we could hopefully get back to discussing evidence, rather than going in circles like two snakes eating eachother's tails. I chose to try to get -you- to clarify, because recently I've come to think of you as realtively reasonable, and I thought your end would be the one that would be easiest to pry the snake tail from it's mouth on.

If you had clarified, they likely would have looked like jerks. But even though there has been rampant misunderstanding (either accidentally, or on purpose), you refused to clarify when asked, so now when I link my friends to this discussion and they read through it they actually say that -you- look like an arrogant jerk.

And now for bringing this up, you probably think that I look like a jerk... but at this point, I thought clearing that part of the air would be best.

I don't see how any government can be independent when that country is occupyed by a foreign force
