Hi there, I have an idea for a site that offers a resource to a specific audience. (i'm being intentionally vague here, sorry, you know how it is...). but I'm not sure which approach to take with the domain. Lets say the audience is tomato-lovers. And the site will be an open forum where people can write about their love for tomatoes. do I call is tomatoist.com? or do I call it i-love-tomatoes.com? considerations: Lets say "tomato" is searched for 10 times more often than "tomatoes" (nonsensical, but bear with me). But there's a lot more competition for tomato than for "i love tomatoes." The first name would be a description of the person writing the blog. The second would be a description of the people visiting. Also the second name has those annoying dashes in it. Which would you go with? For SERPS, for ease of use etc etc?
Infact hyphens are good for SEO because they help the keywords separated. They are just hard to remember for a real human and there is a chance of typo.
I understand that....but thats why I went with tomatoes, which I'm not so interested in. My idea is in a different sector. but if you like the idea, throw me some rep. points! so would one or the other be better for SEO?
Go with Tomatoist.com, It is also good for SEO until you use fresh & unique content and follow all the SEO steps.
First ..i agree above..Next..tomatoist.com for sure .. as far as the "ist" you have market it anyway so it is all "gravy" lol. Tk
Is it only me that thinks "tomatoist" sucks? I guess it's because that's not the real name and just an example but I wouldn't be using it anytime soon
yeah. it sucks. I was more asking about the aproach to naming. Hey, to the 4 guys who sent me PMs warning me to buy Tomatoist.com ASAP, thanks. but again I MADE THAT ONE UP AT RANDOM. I guess I should have picked something super lame for my example. note: I've decided to buy both names and build two separate but inter-related sites on them. Wish me luck!
