Email Marketing? Useless?

I see people wanting to buy email lists, but can it really work?

It can definitely work if you have a website and people sign up to hear about news/ updates.

But if your advertising a new product/ service the person doesn't know about, will they read it and even visit your site?

IMO the money on that can be well spent on other things. lol :D

    what’s your opinion? :)

If the people haven't opted to receive these emails then it is SPAM and might get you into trouble with your webhost and also with the affiliate programs you are using.

    *Evil Spamming*

shunned and should not be practiced. However I have a email index of 57,000,000+ at this point last time i counted up the index it was a bit over 57 million.

Spamming all of them takes a great deal of time. limiting how many are sent an hour is best so you don't pound in emails to web servers throwing up red flags to spam. as well as full headers. make it interesting and wanting to know more. leave the person who might open the email and read it wanting to know more.

Ive offered up my list for sale in the past. but ended up not selling it. I guess for the right price I might actually sell it. It is not categorized and there is a 10% rate of failed email. Last checked less then 2 months ago. 90% where still active emails.

If interested please PM me. will also suggest some tools for doing so. besides mailing servers that rotate the ip. there are programs you can use that rotate proxys.

lowridertj thanks for the offer but I think it's a lot of hard work and the results may be very disappointing. Although someone of the forum may buy from you, would be interesting to see what happens :)

    James12513,
Email marketing is not useless at all, actually it is very effective if done properly. But you are right, if the people you are advertising to don't know you or your product the results may be ver disappointing. That's why, specially in affilliate marketing, it is very important to consider building a list from scratch rather than buy it.

I have to agree with dshihab on this one. Advertising to your own list will always be more profitable than advertising to email lists you bought. Simply because the prospects will know you and therefore they will be far less hesitant to buy from you. That's why I'm actually planning to start building my own list. Personal contact will always be best.

You have to be very careful not to spam and even if you don't spam sending offers to people that didn't signup for your newletter may not be the most effective way. Instead build your own list.

Use an email autoresponder to capture leads and then have it email those leads automatically with more information, testimonials, etc. That will keep your product or service fresh in their minds, while leaving you more time to focus on other things. It can take as many as 7 follow-ups to convert to a sale and an autoresponder can help by sending out those important follow-up emails for you.

Always, always, always include a link to unsubscribe. In some states it's the law.

I have had some success with it. But honestly still do not think it is worth the money. Your money can be spent more wisely like adwords.

Building a list isn't so hard by the way, I have done it while ago for the first time. I was able to subscribe more than 500 people in less than a month with a page that i built in exactly 5 mins. oigcourse.net.tc (not active, dont' signup there) but I'm just giving you an example. and I made it with a free software called Niche List Builder (pm me if you want it). If you need any help with that matter I'll be glad to help :)

Worst marketing idea ever.. especially if you just buy a list and send out emails (that's just called spam). Email marketing CAN work if the user signs up for a newsletter about your product...
