[ Google Wants Reports of Paid Links ] Interesting post by Aaron Wall aka SEOBOOK.

I read a post on seobook.com, which is aptly titled "The Real Reason Google Doesn't Like Paid Links". I think Aaron Wall, is correct, Google just wants to broker all deals, if they don't get paid, they penalize.

    Read it here http://www.seobook.com/archives/002163.shtml

Than there is another post at threadwatch.org, where, they are discussing, how Mat Cutts, had his "foot in the mouth" moment, by asking people to report to google, any paid links they encounter. In short they want a report of any links that are sold on a site. Very stupid ...., if you ask me

It wasn't so long ago that Google claimed it could detect paid links. I could never work out how. Essentially this will become a free for all. Anybody who wants to target a site will report it to Google.

What google is doing, is totally undemocratic, I have seen way better performance from buying ads on relevant sites directly instead of advertising on adwords.

For example, if you are selling a product that helps affiliate run their business in a better way, than advertising on shoemoney's site , or buying a post on John Chow's blog will give you much better ROI at lesser cost than adwords.

    Hello,

Yes, if you look around my posts, I was talking about it month ago..

Google is creating new words, like data refresh, penalty 950, etc etc, this is why, they are doing it, they want to sell Adwords.

If you have a good site, with good seo, without give a penny to Google, they will kill you, this is why there are reputable websites drop in Google.

ya, that nigga expects us to do all the sorting and reporting labor of manually deciding whats a paid link and what a real one. What's in it for us?

Seems like the only paid links and ads he wants is the ones done via Adwords or AdSense.

Not to mention everyone dry snitching on each other.

    Worst. Idea. Ever.

anyone else think Matt Cutts is trying to pump up the GOOG stock? :D

Fewer people buying text links = more money spent on adwords = higher stock price :)

Oh no!! I have to buy more headache-painkiller now.. headache.. I hope that the G would reconsider of doing so. Eventhough there is a pro and cons about the issue. It might be good news to webmaster but it might also be the worst news for webmasters.

How on earth can this be good news for webmasters ? They are asking us to surrender our freedom of doing whatever we want with our sites.

There are no pros, but a lot of cons. Will you surrender your freedom of expression and free speech, just because a monopolistic company is asking you to do so?

I've been a happy little Googler and Adsense publisher for a long time now but they are starting to annoy me now ... all those 3c clicks and now this ... about time they started thinking about their associate webmasters IMHO....

Google biting the hand that (indirectly) feeds it?

Except Wikipedia which goes the other way (to being number one for organic results all the time). That fits in very well with the concept.
Keep everyone but wikipedia, national geographic and a couple of other very large sites on the organic results site and have everyone else pay.
Soon the real estate on the serps for organic results will be the size the paid results are now and vice versa.
I see this trend across all engines. The real estate for organic results has been shrinking for a while now, while the engines try to force the paid results down their users throats.

Well, so far I can't complain though. My traffic keeps going up and its also due to google. They seem to be giving more and more credit to one of my sites and that is a good thing (maybe it just proofs I am a lousy SEO and now that the devalue all SEO I am winning).
