With respect CountryBoy I think that is unlikely although his slaughter of the students will of course become a worldwide political and religious topic for years to come

I am sure that AGS will be pleased to hear that he is not a Muslim ;)

Here we go mubin - I'll cut and paste the timeline from my recent blog entry:

    * At 7.15 am local time the Virginia Tech Police Department (VT PD) received a 911 call to respond to an incident at West Ambler Johnston Residence Hall. On arrival the Police found two gunshot victims, one male the other female, inside a dormitory room. The Police asked the other occupants of West Ambler Johnston to remain in their rooms as a precautionary measure.

    * By 7.30 am officers from VT PD and Blacksburg PD had begun their preliminary investigations and evidence collection.

    * At 8.25 am the Virginia Tech Leadership Team, headed by the university president Charles W. Steger, assembled to discuss the situation and decide how to disseminate news of the deaths to the other students. At 9 am the Leadership Team was briefed by VT PD Chief W. R. Fletchum.

    * At 9.26 am an email message about the incident was distributed around campus.

    * At 9.45 am a second 911 call was received by VT PD. This time they were summoned to a report of a shooting at Norris Hall. On arrival they found the doors barricaded and the sound of gunfire ringing in the building. The gunman was found dead along with at least 30 others.

Edit: I know, my poor attempt at wit. He was probably Buddhist or Christian.

a guy shot 2 people (one being his girlfriend) in a campus dorm room around 7:00 am....two hours later(while police were investigating the first shooting) we walked into a classroom building, chained the doors and started opening fire...he killed 32, and then committed suicide.

I don't think he was. I checked on wikipedia to see what kind of religion is dominant in S. Korea, Islam isn't even on the list. It's majority Buddhists and Christians. I'm sure they have a small number of Muslims there, but doesn't appear he was Muslim.

What I want to know is how a scrawny chinese kid manages to kill 32 people with just a handgun? An automatic weapon okay understandable, but with handgun dont you have to reload like after 12 shots?

He was well bombed up with ammunition clips. It was a meticulous blood bath - slow and methodical with time to reload.

It's because the populace has been conditioned to believe that government will take care of them in any situation. The police and government cannot protect any of us directly. That is up to each one of us. Our society has been programmed to "run and hide" and not to stand up and fight. We are all responsible for our own safety and security. Believing that the government will protect us is like believing in the tooth fairy. When we stop being so self centered and ignoring the world around us, then maybe, something like this can be avoided or at least minimized.

Wonder how long it will take the media to start blaming everyone else, but the shooter. Usually into the second day, the media has publicly convicted about twenty other entities with blame for someone else's crime, leaving the original perpetrator behind.

It is odd that this time it's not a young angry white male with low IQ who didn't get enough attention from his parents or someone suffering from SJS (sudden jihad syndrome). Will save AGS from having to cook up a conspiracy theory.

From the news I saw this morning, the police there believed they had apprehended a suspect in the initial shooting, leaving them to believe there was no further threat.

I don't believe anyone goes to school or work in the morning anticipating something like this. For the most part, we have a reasonable expectation in our society that people have had enough home training to know better than to do something like this and that our system can properly identify those with mental and delusional disorders to keep them off the streets.

Thats a very good point GTech:cool:

In view of the fact that the victims are multi racial nationals from all around

In your opinion do you consider that the Hip-Hop Priest Rev. Al Sharpton will turn up this afternoon for the service (to pose in front of the TV cameras) oops I mean to pay his respects to the deceased
