My letter to the NAACP

Just wanted to share this with yall since I doubt anyone at the NAACP will actually read it.

BTW I called two NAACP offices this morning (because the emails I sent were bouncing back) and both people I spoke with were rude and unhelpful. So much for caring.
    ---

    Hi,

Congratulations on your latest victory in regards to “Imus in the Morning”. It feels good to strike a man down for making a mistake. I would know because I use to do it all the time in debates. As soon as my opponent made an unintentional mistake I was all over it like “white on rice”. It didn’t matter that I knew he didn’t mean it in such a way, it was an open wound and I was going to exploit it as far as possible.

You’ve taught me a fine lesson – it’s not ok to make mistakes and “racist speech” is unacceptable. I couldn’t agree more. However you’ve set the bar so high I’m going to have to work double time just to catch up.

It’s highly offensive to me as a white person that black people have a whole range of vocabulary that “my people” can’t use but “your people” can.

Day in and day out black people, rap "artist", black comedians and etc. use racial slurs and people say nothing. But let a white guy even utter half of the word nigger and he'll be greeted by shocked, angry and insulted faces. Which is more racist, a racial slur or telling all white people they can't say certain words but black people can ?

Where do you think most people hear racial slurs from ? From rap music made by black people - that's where. From the moronic black popular culture that glorifies drug use, killing people, poor treatment of women ("hos") not having a regular job, irresponsible spending, robbery, cursing and on and on.

I couldn't tell you the last time (besides Imus) I heard a racial slur from a white guy. But guess what, I can turn on the radio or pop in a rap cd any day of the week and hear non-stop racial slurs from black people. And not JUST racial slurs. But talking about pimping out "bitches" , selling crack rock, doing prison time, killing people and all the other wonderful positive message rap sends to the youth of our nation.

BUT HEY - THEY'RE BLACK SO IT'S OK RIGHT ? Wrong. If it's wrong for white people it's wrong for black people too. You can't have your cake and eat it as well.

Several years ago a friend of mine, a single white female with a kid who I worked with told a black co-worker (and friend) as she was leaving , “hey my nigga peace out”. This wasn’t unusual for her, it’s something she’d said to that person often and they didn’t have a problem with it. Someone else over heard her and she was fired within three days time. During my employment there countless black people said much worse than that and of course, were never fired or punished otherwise. It wasn't as if she said this in the middle of the day , we worked the over-night shift and less than 10 people were staffed.

If it wasn’t for you and other people crying like bitches over what Imus said I would have never heard of it and neither would hundreds of millions of other people.

I could tell you my best friend is black, that I use to hang out with 95% black people, that I lived in a part of town that was 98% black people, that I have Hispanic friends but hey - what does it matter right ? I'm against this action by the NAACP and this brand of "thinking" yall are using so I MUST be some sort of crazy white racist.

    Sincerely,

    Rory (last name)

People talk about what he said like he called them a string of four letter words.

I've heard worse come out of kids mouths.

Well, the war in Iraq has been going well. The economy is still booming.. Things are pretty much better than they have been in a LONG LONG time overall.. There's really no news. Imus got caught up in a slew of slow news days...

I guess if you look at it this way, with Imus gone, that's one more liberal off the airwaves.

I guess this is a good thing after all. Once we get the liberals off the airwaves, perhaps racism will finally end.

    You're next Rosie!

I think this sums it up:

"In less than two weeks the rap will be replaced with debate. SC State University is hosting the first Democratic presidential debate."

The war is a mess, the country will be a mess shortly once people can no longer use the fake value of their houses to get home equity loans, cars , motorcycles and boat sales are already falling because of the loss of home values.

nothing screams douchebag more then white people pretending they a oppressed

Nothing screams bigot like someone who uses the derogatory label for another group as a general insult.

I think the point is the obvious double-standard that exists. I doubt any white folk give two shats about an organization for our advancement. We just go get jobs and advance ourselves.

white people are not oppressed, anyone who thinks they are is an ass, another clown looking for a way to be a victim, imho

blacks were owned as slaves, oppressed and legally descriminated against for how many years? The KKK was lynching people a few years ago, it only became legal for blacks to marry whites in some states like 30 years ago, that is not long ago

You are worried about the name of some organization? Whats next complaining about black history month? They are small concessions jeez

NAACP helps all races where there is descrimination, despite their name, and althouhg some of their cases seem to be BS they have done a lot of good during the civil rights movement, which probably many of you would have been against if born during that time

thats right, they do help all....they help all to look like bigots if they are not black...I don't see them doing anything for hispanics, or asians, or any other race but black.

I wasn't talking about you being bigoted about white people. I was talking about you being bigoted against homosexuals... or at least appearing that way.

At some point you have to let it go. Black people today don't anymore about being a slave than white people do. It's a lame excuse now.

As far as discrimination - sure it still exists, and it always will. But the discrimination comes from all sides.

Doom and Gloom... You always have such a positive outlook.

You caught that too? I don't think I've ever seen him not do that.
