i heard that more the number of fonts you have installed, considerable affects your pc booting time ... Ideally only around 200 fonts should be there, for normal booting.... If you install a lot more fonts, your booting time may get increased by a good 5 minutes too !! How is this possible ?! true ?
Remember though there is a difference between having the fonts installed and just having them as files in a random folder on your computer. The latter doesn't effect boot-up time at all, just the ones installed in the windows fonts folder slow things down because they are all processed and placed in memory.
if you have a lot of ram in your computer, 2GB would be nice. your booting time will not be affected much!!
yeah, this definately affects booting time this reminds me of when i was a bit tired and out of my mind...and decided to move all of my 20K+ fonts into my fonts directory ...lol...that sucked...because it took forever...and too even longer to remove them now I just use a font managing program
Yep I learnt that the hard way I got bored one day when I was playing with photoshop and decided to instead heaps of fonts. Took forever to do and probably just as long to undo.
I have 1gb of RAM and i agree that extra fonts do effect the boot time but i felt worthy in improving the boot time by enabling the GUI component in msconfig.
All extra graphics and "tuning of the system look " sloows down the pc as it consumes memory and resources
I use MainType right now... www.high-logic.com/maintype.html but i'm actually probably gonna try out www.insidersoftware.com/FA_win_beta.php as it looks pretty decent...they just released a beta for windows so i'll be signing up for that
The amount of porn you have on your PC certainly affects booting time. I have stacks on mine and even though I have a dual core processor it takes a while to boot up. But it's like one of them male porno stars, once it's up it's up.
Ah it's not much of a problem buddy, waiting for it to boot up to access the porn kind of adds to the excitement.
no , if the number of fonts installed is large, boot time fir even 2gb ram gets affected considerably.....i learn't that the hard way ! the only solutions seems, some font managing program.... does anybody know any good one ??
