Here's the best sitemap generator I've found so far. http://www.auditmypc.com/free-sitemap-generator.asp It has a wildcard exclusion feature too which is very handy.
I have used the auditmypc sitemap quite often and really enjoyed it. Sometimes it is hard to get the wildcard things working, and other times I have had the searches terminated for some strange reason. Like there is a detector at the website being spidered seeing the multiple requests and closing it down. I found it fascinating that it had jpg's and gifs and css files included on the sitemap. I have not found these on the serps before, nor seen these mentioned on the Google sitemap. I exclude these when I create a sitemap. But for a vBulletin Google sitemap, you really need a version that gets the data off the database. Gives you a lot more control and that much easier when you have thousands of url's. See my sig for my version of a vBulletin Google sitemap creator. It also allows you to add a file.txt that contains url's (ie using the auditmypc program). My vBGSiteMap program takes these url's and gzips them into the system.
Hi All, Here's the best tool for generating sitemap (XML, HTML, TEXT, RSS, Gogglize formats ) for Google. http://www.blocklayer.com/googlesitemap/ Thanks, s a m p a t h
I think most downloadable site map generator programs support that. Mine does (see signature). For alternatives, check: http://code.google.com/sm_thirdparty.html
