Is it smart to accept sitewide Links?

I find it a way to make a quick buck from the directory regardless of its effect.
Placing say 20 sitewide links in your directory to others sites will suck up all the juice you worked hard on getting, isn't it?
didn't you ask yourself why the big spenders don't allow sitewide links other than to their own sites?
I personally take this into account when I want to submit to a directory.

    just my 2 cents!

well the reason the big spenders don't allow sitewide links is because they want to look professional, like aviva and alive, you dont see any site wide or banners, because they are serious directories.

Plus they already got enough cash and hence do not want any extra income to avoid taxes :D

They have a site full of links and very little original content, how could that make them look any more or less professional to not have site wides? Also it bleeds PR bad and they know that is why people purchase links. Most are not interested in getting listed in a directory because there is little natural traffic

Not to quote myself and sound vain but here are my feelings (taken from a different thread but very similar theme.

Many smarter, my wife could clear the air for you if necessary. She has tons to say on the topic.

Listen, just because you don't like what I have to say....hard dung, it's a public forum and I'm truly trying to help. I feel my comments were on time and relevant. If I am incorrect I'll fess up but you can't stop me from speaking my mind, nor do the readers want that.

So, by all means feel free to red rep me if I am lying through my teeth and trying to mislead others. Otherwise loose the attitude and put forth your rebuttal. If you have good thoughts and can back it up (even if we don't agree) I'll personally share some green with you.

This is how you handle an adversary, not whining.

I'll say it again, site wides links (when sold at a discount by a new directory) is a terrible thing and can ruin the long term viability of a directory. Now if someone wants to offer you $200 / month for a brand new directory's site wide ... take it. Momma didn't raise no fool.

I dont believe that its just that alone.....

When your about to hit that magical PR7 ....
then selling sitewides isnt an option and could possably cause
damage and take your PR7+ and they dont want to risk that im sure.... ;)

    thx

Malcolm but that's also true if you want to hit PR5 but with sitewides you get stuck with PR4, also true for PR5/PR6 ...

And here I am always thinking 'bleeding PR' was just a myth.

hmmm probably.... but i did spend alot on both sleek and biz-king and manged to get a PR5 and PR4 for sleek...

I had no choice but to keep the "sitewides" as was part of the ending conversation we had before sleek was sold to me...

Would i do it again?...... HELL NO

    thx
