The US Dollar is getting worse every month and will soon be able to be used as toilet paper. I work in US Dollars for taking payments for my online ventures (even though I am British) and today it came within 65 cents of being 1 Pound = 2 Dollars, the worse rate for 14 YEARS. This is great for me buying things from the US using the mighty pound sterling but a real bane when selling things. http://www.newsfactor.com/news/Doll...gainst-Euro/story.xhtml?story_id=1000098I35VG
its great for the US economy though...the US has gotten to superior when it comes to money...having the dollar lower drives our economy and helps other countries such as your own. However, it can have an affect on individuals, such as yourself.
I'm from the UK and again, there are both downsides and upsides. I had never thought of the downsides before. :'(
I but in pounds and euros and sell for dollars, so it's not working very well for me either. The interesting about the fact that there are downsides andupsides is that shopping for our things comes after making some earnings, and if these are in dollars....well it sucks!
But...at least you get to rub it in that their currency is doing so poorly. I suppose its the price of oil etc. However, Im suprised the £ is doing quite so well after Gordon Brown SOLD THE UK's GOLD TO CHINA!!!! Why? What was he thinking?
Sorry to sound like an idoit, but im from the UK, and a buying things off DP in $, is this good for me?
very good for you....just don't plan on selling in US $ anytime soon...wait a while and then sell if you must, the $$ will go back up.
Buying advertising is good, taking payments from my dir is bad! 50/50, £156 for a Yahoo directory listing last time I checked, feels alot less then $299 for some reason.
The great thing though is that mine and bonzers monthly fee for our dedicated server is 18% cheaper than it was when we first started paying for it 6 months ago as it's located in the USA.
Apart form knowing the basic exchange rate of currencies, the only way i know the actual value of it is by finding out the price of a can of coke or a packet of crisps in both countries.... This way probably proves nothing and would never work, but i am only 17 and i forgot to take economics in junior school
I'm glad I'm an American and have absolutely no plans to do anything in anything other than the USD any time soon (though that doesn't mean never...) i hate exchange rates anyway...can't we all just use the same damn thing?...lol...i'm gonna start a petition
Thats like saying "Why dont we all just speak the same language?". I suppose it was because of that arguement that happend in the bible, then they got punished... My bible knowledge is hazy, but not bad for an athiest
i'll start a petition for that too i know it will never happen...but things really would be so much easier if money and languages were the same... though most of the fun would die i'm sure...
I think it's all bad for people outside the US. I too gets lower earnings as the value of dollar decreases. --Joe
Actually, in Europe (EU) they manage to use the same currency, but language is something different... And who is going to persuade the French to speak English? Or should they all speak French? Or a new language, so everyone is going to be in trouble? Anyway, there's the Euro, cheap compared to the pound sterling, but very expensive nowadays to the us dollar. So even in the Eurozone they can do some nice shopping when buying in dollars!
