lol, there are probably 200 million directories on the net. There is no way to find the number of active, but I guarantee it is a HUGE number.
I would say that there can be, taking into account the countries that seem popular with them, for example Polish directories, ive found an amazing amount of them, if you mean english language only then maybe not 20,000. When i check back on directories a lot of them are gone, so even though they are born everyday, quite a few die quite often.

Im thinking hes bull shiten us and throwing a number out thier.. many directories are not listed in vilesilencer or directory critic and many more are in different languages... thx malcolm
i typed the word "link directory" it came out with 300+mil result and I'm sure at least 1% of those are the active directory XD
There is a rumor all be it only a guess that is That in the next 2 years you will have over 20,000 directories of your own And all doing good business

Well, I don't know the exact no. but i think there would be around 10K active directories. (Just my guess) But since everyone is going after Directories, 20K is not that far. We see new announcement threads everyday.
