I went to godaddy to set up an acount and register a dot.com after I went through the steps, chose "paypal" in the end as a payment method. it asked me for my credit card or debit card data but the reason why i am using paypal is not to have a credit card to do payments online, am I doing somehting wrong? Best regards, Eiso
GoDaddy definately accepts PayPal - perhaps there was a temporary glitch in their system or maybe PayPal was having their scheduled maintenance at the time. My advice would be to try again.
I have been trying over the last hour and it keeps on asking me to "Add credit or Debit card." I hope it works again soon.
Do you mean GoDaddy is asking you to add a credit/debit card or PayPal is asking you to add a credit/debit card?
here is a screenshot of what it asks me, after I click through on godaddy for paypal option, then login to paypal, then accept the terms and then this comes:
It could, maybe, possibly, be because you have several windows open within the browser. There is a well known javascript injection vulnerability that can allow other sites to overlay a javascript pop-up above a secure site if you have more than one window open. So maybe it is a security precaution?
Although the page has the GoDaddy logo at the top, it's PayPal that is asking for your cc info - not GoDaddy (you might notice the URI in your browser address bar is on paypal.com). Do you have any balance in your PayPal account? If not, it might be asking for your credit/debit card info in order to fund your domain purchase.
But the reason I'm using paypal is because I do not have and do not want a credit card, I know some people without a credit card, with paypal, who can buy domains at godaddy.com
They probably only accept verified Paypal members. I think the only way to verify your Paypal account in Holland is by adding a credit card. In some other countries you can just add a bank account.
Lately I've been hearing stories about people getting their GoDaddy accounts hacked and domains removed (from several sources). Have you guys been hearing the same? Also: http://www.namecheap.com supports paypal as well and so does http://www.registerfly.com
