Sex, dating, marriage, and the bible

Many passages in the bible do a pretty good job at letting us know sex before marriage is wrong (by christian moral perspective). There is also a lot against any sexual acts - even simply lusting for someone but not touching is considered sin.

SO - I invite my fellow christian folk and agnostics whom are biblically literate, to put together a scripture based proposal that sexual activity before marriage is actually okay.

Why? Because in the past dancing with anyone of the opposite sex was considered immoral, but now many churches consider it okay as long as it isn't promiscuous. Shrimp and pork was bad at one time, but we eat it now without thinking twice. So lets revisit this topic from a fresh perspective.

If God says not to have sex before marriage and not to eat pork, I guess you shouldn't. The churches say it's ok, but why do you need a middleman between yourself and God? Not to mention that many priests are pedophiles. Does it mean that God approves of pedophilia?
My guess is that priests will be among the first to burn in hell, and if you follow they advice you probably will as well. Makes sense?

 

The word you're looking for is "fornication."

The phrase you're looking for it "one flesh."

When you have sex with someone you become one flesh. In otherwords, in God's eyes you're married.

Therefore, there's no such thing as premarital sex.

 

There is no scripture in the bible to point out that sex before marriage is okay. In God's eye prematial sex is adultery. Even lusting after a women is adultery according to the of Matthew in chapter six.

Just goes to show the common ignorance of people. I guess I would submit the hundreds of upright men in the Bible that had wives and concubines that they weren't married to. Anyone not know what concubines were used for?

 

Well, I am as of yet not done reading through the bible, but I have yet to find anything specifically condemning sex before marriage.

Thus far, the only things I have found concern not 'sinning sexually' and this refers back to a fairly specific list involving not sleeping with your sister, your wife's sister, an animal, ect. But having sex with someone you are not married to is not on the list.

And thus far all I have ever heard people argue off of was circular logic and their own definition of terms. "Sinning sexually is bad. So it's a sin to masturbate."

... right.

If you can point out passages that specifically condemn sex before marrage...

 

This whole topic is for people that have never read the Bible thoroughly. People that have read some of Jesus sayings, Psalms, Proverbs and gone to church to listen to a pastor.

For anybody that has studied the Bible, the question is silly. God even commanded the Hebrews to take all the young women for themselves to do with as they please for reward of vanquishing rival tribes. Not only did He condone "premarital sex", but rape as well.

Wow.. it sounds like you know the Bible front to back.. I mean.. you're changing your stance about as many times as the Bible does. For example, in Samantha 12:22 its ok to "fuck who you wanna" but in Samantha 3:16, Gay is a plague. (which would contradict "fucking who you wanna") So what is your stance on this?

ok so if God's view is that if you have sex with someone your married then why in John 4:18 would Christ aknowledge that "...the one you have now is not your husband..." if everyone you have sex with is 'in God's eyes' your spouse?
and for all those people that say God only recognizes your first marriage earlier in the same verse John 4:18 Christ says "thou hast had five husbands..." so obviously God recognizes all your your marriages.

Now on the topic as a whole this is quite stupid. Just because society changes doesn't mean the Word of God molds to it. The church may mold to the world but the Word is always the same and you shouldn't try to find a 'loophole', so to say, to try to do your own thing.
