Just bought a laptop for under $400. Doing some of the upgrades for it as well (1GB RAM upgrade, wireless network card upgrade, etc). I think that is a little steep for a Refurbished computer. You can now find laptops for that price new. At Christmas time my borther in law bought an HP with the same stuff for $369 new. I am always weary of refurbished because it depends a lot on who refurbished it and what parts they used.
Cheap! It'll probably last a year... I wouldn't buy it if I were you.. and spend it on a more expensive laptop.. but it also depends on your budget.
We'll have to agree to differ on that one! All the Compaq's I've seen have been tat with bits falling off and the aesthetics of Jabba the Hutt.
A year!? I won't be using it as a football haha. The point is that it is Pentium 4 with 1GB of RAM. It'll sure last more than a year. My custom desktop PC I'm on right now is a pathetic Celeron (though it is exceptionally fast for a Celeron) 632mb of RAM. This'll sure be a lot better.
We'll see I paid 2k for this laptop I have right now and its dying hahaha... sadfully. But I hope it turns out to be a good deal! Theres one up for bids at 177 only right now.. (so far, it'll go up obviously lol)
If you think about it: in retail it must cost more right? So it's not too bad at all (think about the taxes you'll be saving.. actually that would hit your more if you were up here lol)
What does that mean? Yeah I'm in university -> main reason why I have a laptop... but taxes as in items bought.. we pay 14% tax of what we purchase in stores here..
Hi 14% is small value - on my country we must pay 22% tax for every electronic goods purchase.... Alex
Seems to be quite steep for an old refurbished laptop. Love how the ad says huge 40 gb hardrive, ipods have more diskspace. Save up for something newer. It will be faster and move value. Since Vista has come out all the old laptops that can't run vista properly have come down in price.
