Aright guys, i was i was in a skypecast the other day and some one told me about this search engine chacha.com basically you type your keyword in and there is live support representatives who search for you and bring you back the relevant results. I did it a few times and ill be reviewing it on one of my SEO blogs so i was wondering what you guys thought of it you know. The future of search engines All though im sure Google will buy the idea if it gets good
Results are pretty crappy and way to fast to be done by a rep imo! Edit: Sorry didnt look properly, although the rep i used wasnt THAT helpful tbh
Anyone know how to get a referral to work there. I talked to a rep weeks ago and she said one of their reps have to refer you. So anyone out there have a referral they can send my way? The pay is pretty bad (for a programmer) but I think it is pretty cool and would spend some time there. I am an expert searcher (20-50 searches / day X 10 years = quick answers, great results). I think the service was good and rep was helpful in my search. Overall pleased with service. Before you guys go slamming it remember that it is free to use, you get what you pay for.
I am a rep for the company and you cannot get paid from them unless you go through training and do a certain number to searches helping people. Its really a waste of time if you think about it because you can search the same thing that they can. I have stopped doing it because I make more money doing other work!
I used the site a bit but the results were no better than what I could get on Google. I could see if you were not very good at searching online then the service will be useful as you get a more personal experience.
yeah i asked them how there day was and all and they were very polite im sure there is some peaple who are nasty to them which is abit harsh.
Myself, I didn't receive very polite reps, and well, I can search faster myself. But I think alot of people don't know how to get the most out of their searches, so for them this service has the potential to evolve to be a great help. tasty
If it was voice chat they might be onto something. I help my Mum do crosswords, she rings me up and I get to google stuff like "What did Charles de Gaulle and Jackie Onnassis collect?" She'd find that useful, but if she had to type in the question it wouldn't work. Then you'd have the whole accent problem...
$10 an hour? Doubtful. I tried chacha, I barely got any searches in for the keywords I had, and even with those that I did I had low earnings. Its not worth it. Most of the guides act immature, as a guide it doesn't pay good at all, IMO.
The business model itself is flawed, think about it. ChaCha, for one has more overhead than Google in regards to the search aspect, ChaCha is paying people to help other people search, whereas Google is not. Google doesn't have to worry about paying anyone, and you get better results. I would say 70% of the results that you get with ChaCha point you to Wikipedia. ChaCha will not last too much longer.
the guides are a gimmick. The key to success will be their indexing algo and spam prevention. they are running their own bots aren't they?
I was curious about it and checked it out my search term was "how much does a chacha.com person make" my results were well idont know i didnt really look so i asked for some help and talked for a while he said about 5 an hour so i gave him a very good score. I can't amagine them making any money with out implementing some kind of adwords type program because you just talk to someone and get the answer but you have to remember there are very novice users out there and they don't have a clue how to search for sertine key phrases. maybe they can make some cash?
