My first venture into Proxies

Discussion in 'General Marketing' started by agnivo007, Apr 15, 2007.

Finally decided to start a proxy to see how it goes.
    The URL is www.cloaktool.com

I've heard it's not that hard to get traffic to proxies...is that true?
How can I kickstart getting traffic initially?

I've heard proxy topsites bring in some traffic, if not huge.
What are the best 5 topsites in terms of traffic sent?

Topsites require proxy owners to place their banner. Mostly I've seen those on the proxy homepage. Is adding the banners to a different link page allowed?

Many proxy owners recommend a bold listing at proxy.org...is the $20/month worth the investment? How much traffic does it bring generally?

Feedback on my proxy site, advice and suggestions from proxy owners welcome and highly appreciated with a green rep.

Well,I see no point having banners of 100+ topsites on my homepage...
Though the submission tool is very good, I'm looking for a list of the best 10 topsites in terms of traffic.

What about the proxy.org bold listing?

hehe trust me submit to all 100+ sites, what you need to do is put them in a div and then make it a scrollable div that just fits 1 row. Not against most of their rules, and will get you 100 backlinks.

Don't forget it's not just for the traffic it's for the SEO backlinks :) Especially as some of the proxys become even higher PR rated, some guys (like me) are working to push our topsites as high as we can PR as fast as we can ... so if you get 121 or more backlinks from all these topsites, put their buttons in a small scrollable div so it isnt taking up all your space, you've got all the backlinks and adverts without killing your sites space.

As for the proxy.org bolding, i'd suggest against it, and if you want to know why PM me and i'll explain in more detail as to exactly why.

Well I would take this opportunity to ask you to closely watch the activity on your new proxy, there have been quite a few incidents of proxy owners getting warned or getting banned due to invalid clicks and auto-surf traffic.

Ofcourse, I would support most proxy owners and say they were not involved cause I wasn't, I noticed some wierd activity where adlogger was not getting being able to detect clicks etc. and ofcourse watch out for traffic from filthyloaded.com. its a click fraud network. and have been lately targeting proxy owners with botnets. Plus accessing proxies through proxies and clicking on ads.

One proxy I did realize was fishy, though I will not state the url here cause that information is not confirmed.

Though you will get a lot of traffic easily, and a lot of iran traffic. Either block them or be very careful these guys will click on just about any ad.

I havent been banned, but removed all adsense of my proxies for a short time period till thing can get into control. Though give a good thought to iran traffic. Spring break is coming up in north america and traffic will be a little slower for a few months. If you decide to keep the iran traffic as is, then use popups to earn from them. I make close to 10$ a day thanks to them at the moment and its good considering I have removed adsense.

Anyways, best of luck, and be careful!!

    Cheers!!

What about using chitika/bidvertiser/clicksor ads instead of google?
I guess adding pop-up/under is a bad experience for surfers and they'd never come back.

I think it's perfectly legal to add google referral units on the proxified page menu as it's not contextual at all...what you all think ?

I agree about popunders. When I experimented with them, I lost a lot of traffic, a lot of which never came back.

I don't know why you think this is okay with topsite owners but I will not approve a proxy that doesn't clearly display my button.

Do some searches for search terms that proxy users would search for.

Grab a text link at BestProxySites.com. I know some of my users are getting hundreds of visitors a month from it.

I hear all kinds of mixed things about the listings at proxy.org. Enough for me to not know what the results are.

    Good luck with your site!

    Yeah, It's on purpose.

It gets turned on and off every now and then.
If I left it open all the time I'd have thousands of members with no benefit and only useless server load.
