I thought the definition of Google Bowling was selling links for your competition in order to hurt them in the SERPS? As now it's seemingly in beta that paid links will be devalued or potentially harm a site, it only stands to reason that we've just entered the tenth frame.

    Yippee, fully rested now.

Do you really think google would actually try to hurt the whole PR concept after this:

    http://www.seomoz.org/blog/i-tie-up-mike-mcdonald-interview-vanessa-fox-again

What needed to be done (this whole charade) is already done, all this commotion is just because google said "ok umm you might not know it but we already were doing this"

yes... well, guests in general, as separating bots from humans can be a bit tricky at times.

The whole board, but not board by board, or did I miss a chapter in while reading the manual?

vB by default places spiders in with guests. To restrict spiders is to restrict guests. If you can do it on a forum by forum basis via the ACP, please let me know the correct path to do so.

As for the underground, spiders can not see it, but if I am not mistaken, either can guests.

    umm no not quite...

there is a mod that categorizes between spider and a real guest

and underground can be seen by guests not spiders

You should really log out and check your sources...that or I'm flagged as a bot while logged out. I show the underground as a private forum with no posts.

MY sources? what is this, court? lighten up..

Anyway, i remembered that smyrl said its onyl viewable by members its made that way, both guests and spiders are restricted there..

bots are not categorized as guests they seem like guests because they are not logged in.

    unregistered/not logged in == guests & bots

Other then the "whats going on" stats there are no differences between bots and guests unless a hack/mod is added.

As for lightening up, I was not the one giving false or misleading information... so sorry if I seemed harsh.

    Misleading information?
im not the one assuming that dp is using a fresh copy of vbulletin with no mods..

This is one heavily modded board, even though it doesnt seem like one, and the access for bots can certainly be turned off easily by shawn its a known fact.

Go here here and see the whos online part:

    http://animemv.com

thats a copy of that mod running, where bots are viewable by members and guests

I know there are hacks here, though seemingly not the ones you are referring to...Also, you've stated options which are based on hearsay or something...

Log out & see for yourself. Guest can see the title of the board but nothing else. If the hack is installed on that forum it's most certainly broken.

Bots are in the same usergroup as guests (because they are not logged in), and I've thus far seen nothing here to show there is anything different going on.

thanks for the link, though that's not here... Also, calling bots via the online list is different then changing their usergroup. I am unsure if your link is doing that, I need to log in to see...

Yea right, shawn isn't going to block that off. He would lose too much traffic if he did. :(
